Can you run the 175 big bore kits successfully on the oem carburettor Obv changing jets and needle positions, or is the carb to small and it will lean out under load / Thanks in advance / and if not those in the know what should I use I have a Honda CR carb from the early mid 80’s would I stand a better chance , I’d like it to be running slightly rich esp at high RPM Regards mic

Most people did back in the day but i would not, not nowadays . you need a bigger better carb to feed it at the very least id try and get a 26mm ypvs cab but frankly id be looking at a 28mm if it was me .

I was going to get a big bore on my rd but got talked out of it as he said it would blow the big end in no time is this true or do they last and how many miles thanks

just use a tuned ypvs barrel much better.
then sauce ypvs using 350 parts.
you only need the pulley and casing
then add a second lever from a bicycle with a cable to one side and a spring to the other.
manual ypvs works great

Use a mk3 carb if you want the airbox.I use a 34mm mikuni with no problems
