Hello new to the forum, I've just bought an rd125lc mk1, its been stood since 2007, just done a top end rebuild and had the carb cleaned, fresh fuel oil etc. At first i struggled to get it to tick over but that's sorted now but on a test run it seemed to bog down and struggle for power. Its got a micron on it but the long can style should the jet be altered to account for this when running the standard 12a carburetor. Considering just replacing the existing carb with a copy one from ebay as they are on £20. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

yes you need to up your jets for a micron, No Idea where to start with that as ive never used microns. get your carb cleaned and rebuild rather than the cheap carbs from ebay (tried them they are sh1t at best)

12A Mukini carb ? Main jet only covers mostly the 1/2 to full throttle range. Pilot jet/ throttle valve/ needle / needle jet size, all play their part. Try setting up on throttle position and plug drops to check mixture

Strip carb and clean as per Haynes manual.Do you have standard air box? Auto lube? If so 195 main jet won't be far out do a plug chop. Hunt for info on plug chops on here.

I ran a standard bike with a bean can micron just raised the needle one position it was ok. All engines are different though. Make sure you run on premium fuel to. To play safe put a 210 main jet in and work from there.
