From all that I could find they said 25/155 Steve looks like i gave you false info. 25/155 is correct. but now i am unsure with out taking them off if i am running 155 or 160. i know it runs fine.

Changed back to old coil and it runs MUCH better
Need the v5 now to give it a decent run

Pulling my hair out lol
Changed coil/caps/plugs and still not running right. Was spitting fuel out the lh carb today
Stripped carbs and fitted 22.5/150 jets and double checked float heights - all ok
Decided to check the fuel levels so hung carbs up, fitted clear lines to overflows and opened the drain
Jeeez! Fuel spilling into carb body
Had to go from 21mm to 25mm to get the fuel level to sit at the gasket level so floats heights and fuel level not matching the manual specs
I'll refit them and see how it runs
Steve

Have you thought about sticking another set of std lc or pv carbs on Steve as it sound as though that is where your problems lie. There might be an internal problem with those push pull jobs that wont be fixed with jetting or playing about with float heights.
Just thinking that considering the black gunge in the motor when you got it, a historical problem that previous owners could not get to the bottom of either

There might be an internal problem with those push pull jobs that wont be fixed with jetting or playing about with float heights. Just thinking that considering the black gunge in the motor when you got it, a historical problem that previous owners could not get to the bottom of either I know what you mean and I have 2 pairs of 31k carbs sitting and even have a new 1ua cable but the RH switchgear is different too. Probably got a 1ua RH one somewhere but that's another Β£200 thrown at it As for the carbs history the black fuel in the engine most likely has a lot to do with the vacuum tap passing. The tank was bone dry so it went somewhere lol Also when I replaced the needle valves and seats I remember having to bend the tabs a he'll of a lot to get to 21mm. I wish I'd measured the old set up but 25mm now gives a realistic fuel level I've went back to the new coil but fitted non resistor caps Strangely I fitted the 2 br9es plugs I got from a Yam dealer and although I burned them with a blow torch it still chimed in and out on 1 cylinder. This time the right instead of the left but I've probably swapped them over. Fitted a set of br8es and fitted the carbs with 25mm float height, 22.5 pilots and 150 mains First good sign was it would not start without choke. Put choke on and it fired straight up and sounded ok Then the clincher, fitted the airbox rubber Fires up no problem and revs clean Rode it up and down the street and it rides fine, you can even feel it starting to pull hard Fingers crossed. Come on DVLA, get yer finger out and give me a v5 lol Steve

Good news by the sound of things then Steve, and hopefully you have solved this one at long last as it has been a real pain for you.
V5 soon and on to the next

Sounds like you've got it sorted Steve? I'm expectantly hoping a V5 for my 3HM1 will drop on the mat sometime soon, DVLA received all the paperwork on the 4th of October, not sure if three weeks is a sign it's being processed or whether it means it will all be returned rejected!

Only sitting in a pile to either get a number allocated or returned with a problem Steve

I just got one back. The first quite bizarre rejection took about 3 weeks.
I had to write a letter explaining that VIN numbers in their current format, didn't exist back then. 2nd time, V5 received after another 3 weeks.

Came home today to find a dvla letter
Cnuts have rejected my application as I did not include the original reg doc or import docs/ proof of purchase
What despite me enclosing a letter explaining there was no Jap doc so there was a dating letter from Yamaha AND the invoice from DK

They want me to send in a letter explaining why Can only say the dealer I bought it from did not have it And as I am not the importer I don't have the import docs Under gdpr regs I wouldn't get the info anyway Steve

that is what did with from dk and it was fine as long as you gave them the
nova dk invoice dating letter. explaining there was no log box.
should all be enough.
all you can do is try again.

I did that I stated in the covering letter that I had sent a manufacturers dating letter as the Japanese documents were not available I also included the DK sales invoice Now I've calmed down I've typed up a polite letter stating there is no non UK reg doc and have included the purchase note and credit card receipt as proof of purchase I'll see what response that gets I've never had this problem before Steve

I had similar a month ago.
Give them a call on Monday explaning that the DK invoice was proof of purchase and the reason why.
Put in your letter that you called the DVLA helpline and they were very helpful, this is what they suggested.
That seemed to work for me, as frickin annoying as it might be.

Makes no sense, mine came through OK with similar information sent except I was lacking a receipt or invoice. Seems it is, to an extent, the luck of the draw. I don't intend doing another, too much of a PITA.

End of this chapter today, being collected by it's excited new owner in the next hour or so
It fought me to the end with running issues.
Would run but lacking in midrange and would go flat or drop the right cylinder every so often
Nearly gave in and fitted desperate 29l carbs that were loaned to me ( Cheers Matt π») and had picked up a good f1 cable since f2 ones were made of unobtainium
Ended up going up a size on pilots, changing floats and setting the fuel level rather than the float height.
Now runs much better but fealt over geared
The penny dropped when I was tidying the shed and found a 16t front sprocket and thought WTF
I thought the only difference in gearing was 41t rear instead of 39t but turns out the front is 16t which I can't get as I needed an offset sprocket to get the chain run correct for the wider 3xc wheel
He'll have to fit a 43t rear to sort it π
