Hi Guys, thought i would show you what i am on with at the moment. so i bought an F2 basket case in bits . Ha ha we've all been there have'nt we It is a uk bike with matching numbers ,but it came with zero electrics and no top end. I decide to build it more of an N2 than an F2 as i prefer unfaired and high bars. I also decided as it had no electrics i would use 31 k electrics as i have several good 31k top ends. oh and 31k carbs too. so i started collecting bits, picked up a 31k CDI, then a loom (thanks Andy), then ypvs controller (thanks Simon) and various other bits around and about. I stripped the bottom end and sent the crank off to grampian. it is expected back on monday. I had the frame stripped and powder coated along with the swingarm etc ,all done in super gloss black. Wheels i stripped and vapour blasted , repainted and polished. New BT45 tyres and refurbed the discs. The forks i vapour blasted and clear laquered. I have got a 350 Lc headlight unit and i am waiting for one of those all in one digital speedo consoles to arrive. This is how it all looks so far,...... coming along nicely i think. I will keep you posted on the progress. cheers Higgsy

thanks guys, just had a major setback though! Just realised the tank i have is off a 31k and not an F2. Doh!!!!
I have just cut the bottom out and blasted it ready to weld up all the rust holes when i realised. I have put a wanted ad on here, i also need the mounting brackets and rubbers. I might post pictures of the 31k tank just for a giggle as it looks like a cullinder !

hmm, can't decide whether to clean up the top crankcase or vapour blast it back to bare alloy and leave it like that. What do you lot think?

Ok, so i have nearly finished the bike. I fired it up for the first time yesterday, and it sounds great. The engine is nice and quiet and everything works as it should including the powervalves. I am pretty pleased with it really, considering it came to me as a box of bits with no wiring whatsoever. Although the bike was an F2 i used entirely 31k electrics. Loom, stator, flywheel, powervavle controller, everything was 31k, including the barrels, head, and carbs. I used a digital dash i got from e bay, which i am quite impressed with for the grand sum of £23 brand new delivered!! It has five different background colours and is programmable for speedo and tacho. For a colour scheme i decided to go with stock N2 stripes but in my own colour scheme. Graham at image works came up trumps ,as usual and i am well pleased with the outcome. Just a few little bits and pieces to finish off and it will be ready for an mot. pretty much finished the bike now. I rode it for the first time on friday when i took it for an mot. it passed and it rode very nicely. The only problem was that i mounted the speedo pickup on the right hand read mudguard stay. I went over a pothole and there is too much flex in the mudguard and it moved and knocked the magnet off the wheel rim. After a bit of head scratching i decided to mount it on the original speedo drive . I fabricated an ally bracket from a piece of box section i had knocking around. Then i got my welder Andy to weld it on to the speedo drive. i remounted the magnet with araldite to the centre of the wheel to line up with the bracket and all is well, problem solved. Speaking of the speedo, i have managed to calibrate it pretty close, but in the summer i will get it closer using those roadside "keep your speed down" radar speed displays you see at the side of the road. I have also wired the temp gauge up to the fuel gauge display ,as clearly i dont have a fuel tank sender unit on the F2 tank but i DO need a temp gauge. They both work on the same principal, so now my fuel gauge (which you can see on the left hand side of the display) now acts as a temp gauge. Roll on summer! ypvs by DAVID HIGGS, on Flickr ypvs by DAVID HIGGS, on Flickr ypvs by DAVID HIGGS, on Flickr ypvs by DAVID HIGGS, on Flickr ypvs by DAVID HIGGS, on Flickr

That's looking lovely Mouse has a really neat, tiny digi temp gauge on his 31k hybrid. I'm sure he will tell you where he got it ( I will get one for my bike when I'm ready). And I'm a fan of original clocks, usually, but that dash looks great Dusty

Dave, a lovely job on what I feel is the most unique "standard ish" power valve.
Great work

I like the pipes thanks Gunny, i will put a video on here soon so you can hear them. they do sound well. How much do you do a set of them for for the ypvs ? And you need to start doing them for the Rd125lc, not many options for them
