I always fancied a nice big green Kawa Z1100R, with an unbelievably loud 4-1 pipe and a JMC arm on it........ Yeah great bikes.Rode my mates one in 1985 and couldnt errase the memory so finally got one 8 years ago.

That will have to do for now. Can't find a way of rotating the pic even though all my pics are the right way up on my phone.

Funny to think that 30 + years ago we were blasting round on LCs dreaming of Jotas, RC30S, EXUP, big Zeds etc and here we are now still dreaming but I suspect most of us are totally content with our small capacity 2 stroke now.
Back in the day my LC was a fun stepping stone to big cc bikes, now it is the last one I would sell.

Problem is that the older classics are good to look at but pretty nasty to ride in comparison with anything remotely modern. I have a few including a couple of 900ss Bevels and on the right day when you are in the right mood they are ok but when you drag one out of the workshop and it doesn’t fire third kick you know you are in for a sweaty bonding session with it. Modern bikes are just so good now everything else feels like a handful to ride especially the brakes which are downright dangerous on some old bikes.
I run a R1200s with Ohlins and a full Termi as a go to bike and it’s a fantastic road weapon with loads of torque but I’d like a HP2S if that qualifies as a classic.

The only other classic I’d like to own is a XT500 Had one in the late 89’s early 90’s and despatched on it. Great town bike crap for distance

Always hankered after a 350 LC since my last one in 1987 but got one now ☺ so I'd love my old CBX1000 back otherwise 1100 Katana or more recently MT-01.

I had a Bimota YB4ie a few years ago. It carried a fuel injected FZ750 20v motor. Superb bike and the one I regret having sold. Before that I had an NC30 on which I learned to get my knee down. Great bike and I miss that one too as I cannot afford one anymore as the prices for good ones have rocketed. I would love a Gilera CX125 but a tatty one so it is OK to modify it into a CX350YPVS.
Bucket list:
Ducati F1 SantaMonica Ducati 851 SP3 RC30 Bimota Tesi 1D NSR250 MC28 Cagiva 750 elefant lucky explorer Yamaha 360 RT1 Bimota Vdue FZ750 1985 with half fairing GSXR750 limited edition 1986 Laverda SFC Ducati yellow sport Husqvarna CR400 Bimota DB1 Bakker SQS

Modern bikes don’t do it for me either That said my ktm superduke and aprillia Mille are the perfect modern day things for me Though the Mille is a bit temperamental
But my lc and even my Mito are still practical means of transport

I agree modern bikes are probably way better steeds in almost every way. I say probably as I have never ridden anything remotely modern. Newest bike I was ever on was an RS250 and I didn't own the thing long enough to get a real feel for it. Hence the hankering for an FZ lol! But like nearly all of you my LC is never ever going to be sold, I wouldn't swap it for any modern bike...

I totally agree, I do wonder how we didn't all kill ourselves on these bikes back in the day, I've got lazy/use to bikes with ABS, traction control etc for example, jumping on an old LC could easily catch you out, what with those skinny tyres, getting those particular riding skills back up to scratch may take a bit of time.

... anyway just bought a soon to be classic car Yeah me too, trying to diversify but also grab a modern classic as I do enjoy em and get in before the prices are just unobtainable. The only other classic I’d like to own is a XT500 Had one in the late 89’s early 90’s and despatched on it. Great town bike crap for distance Mine is set up just for the city, defo never gonna get used for distance. I only need a DT175MX to complete my collection, so am currwntly on the lookout for one of them. Me too Mark, but we were only talking about that this week lol.

I already have one bike where I need to manufacture parts or machine pistons to fit, I don't think I could cope with another. I have my name down for one of the new Fantic Caballero Flat Trackers, but the same issue might arise there, if I keep it and need a piston in 10yrs then I'll probably be knackered. In contrast I can pick up pretty much any part I want off the shelf for my 1992 CBR600.

There is a warehouse here with quite a few CB1100s for ridiculously cheap money, no one is interested in old bikes. Old Z's, MK1 DT125's, etc - loads of old stuff that has very little value here. But you'd have to get it back from the UAE.

Of course with a bike you could dismantle and just send it in boxes I guess...

Of course with a bike you could dismantle and just send it in boxes I guess... No, it's fairly easy, but just expensive to send a single bike. E.g. it cost me £2,000 to get one of my TDRs from the UAE to the UK (then you have import duty and VAT) - it's expensive from this side. I can ship a bike from Japan to the UAE for about £600 and from the UK to the UAE for about £700, but sending it back is three times as much. Also duty and VAT is higher in the UK so you get hit with that as well. Same if you book flights for yourself, to fly from Manchester to Dubai return is usually just over half the price to fly from Dubai to Manchester return. I was told it's because it's a high income country and everyone charges a lot more. India put some sort of ban on exporting vehicles, it's very hard to get old British bikes out of the country.

Ahh ok, cool. Ta for the insight. Perhaps it was India I was thinking about. I guess there isnt any option to ride something to a cheaper country and physically export from there. 2k is just silly
