Well, starting to look at the bodywork, the tank looks to have had some sort of jbweld smeared on the usual rust spots so filled the tank with Deox C to hopfully get rid of most of the rust inside, then I'll get a wire wheel on it and see what I need to weld. Probably get a liner afterwards....

Well the deox C seems to have done it's job inside, few pin holes that I've welded up, wire wheeled all the surface rust off the underside of the tank and painted with hammerite Krust rust treatment. Just a skim of filler needed and the underside should be ok then I can start DA sanding the top of the tank

Cracking on with the bodywork, tank lined with flowliner, various dints filled and ready for some high build primer. Picked up a single seat unit so wanted a smooth look on the rear panel so plastic welded up the seat catch and grab rail holes, also welded up the line on the panel to get it as clean as possible. Still need to decide on colour π€

Plan is to get it down to the mot station as is and get a mot on the vin number so I can start the long process with the dlva clowns to get a reg number.
Then I can get on with the painting etc over winter and hopefully get a V5 by spring !!

Inside of the panels blacked and bolted up the brackets I made so the seat is spring loaded like the original

Thats superb work. I was going to do the same with my Quality Works Solo tail but never fitted it to the LC2, i will use it tho and do this as well.

Looking good Mark do like the gold wheels, looking forward to seeing it built up π I like them now, wasn't too sure with the front wheel being a different shade to the gold forks but mounted the red mudguard now and looks loads better...breaks it up a bit

Been playing around with the forks the last couple of days, with them meant for a YZF 125, their a bit soft. Not too many options, Hypro do a spring kit for Β£130 or Andreani Fork Cartridge Kit for Β£490 !!!! Anyway stripped the forks, they only have a cartridge in the R/H fork, and just a spring in the L/H, part of the course for a 125, i suppose. The springs are progressively wound, after doing a bit of reading up, i cut 30mm from the tight (softer) coils to increase the spring rate and make the spring more linear, i then machined up a 30mm spacer on my trusty mini lathe to make up the difference. Rebuilt the forks with 15wt oil (10wt standard) they defiantly feel better just bouncing them in the garage, still got around 30mm of static sag but don't dive as much.
I'll try them once the bike is on the road, worst case, i buy a set of hypro linear springs but i think (hope) this might just work, its not like i'm competing in GPs !!!

I havenβt commented on this one much but I have been following your progress quite intently. What a beautiful transformation you have achieved there and your efforts are there for all to see. You mustβve well pleased with how she turned out. π Agree that the weather is is abysmal just now but hopefully a few good days will allow you out and about. Enjoy.
