Hi Dusty i used to blank my vacuum spigot off the same. I once had a cylinder running a little lean and it took me a while to find the problem, it turned out to be air bypassing the bolt. I now thread the inside of the spigot and srcrew a small allen bolt in and seal it with Loctite 542.

Hi mate There is a plug of silicon inside the hose too, and in the top of the spigot. No air getting in that way !!π

Hi That's what blocks off the vacuum spigot that the pv fuel tap needs but not needed for lc tap.

Hi All That explains allπ Just looked at the RH carb and the spigot is missing so that explains why I was unable to identify the vacuum take offπ I will plan to remove the carb to fit a either a new spigot or blank off with a plug Thanks again all Best wishes Al

Hi all Just sorting out my carb plumbing and just need to confirm that on the RH carb on the top at the reed end there are two holes / drillingβs but only the one closest to the slide is blanked off with a brass ball plug. Tried to find some photos on the web but it is not clear that the is only one brass plug and the other drilling is left unplugged. Can anybody confirm this is correct please. Many thanks to all. Best wishes Al.

Hi all. Hope you are all well. Well it been just over 2 and a half years, but at last the yellow RD is all but finished!! It just needs a quick fettle and then off for its first MOT (as its built round a German import) Really please how the rebuild turned out as when I got the project I did wonder what madness had overcome me, and thought that the wreck I bought was beyond a decent rebuild but with time and patience really please with my first RD project (but will let you all decide for yourselves what you think) IMG_6523 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6508 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6519 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6516 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6517 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6512 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6511 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6521 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6513 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr IMG_6520 by Alan Kelly, on Flickr But most importantly I would like to personally thank all (You know who you are) for all the help, tips and encouragement during the build. Now the yellow project is done, I guess this will be the last post. But all is not over as I will now have more time to commit to the Xmas Tigcraft project!!! Catch up again soon. Best wishes to you all Al.

Fabulous work Al, itβs turned out exactly as youβd envisaged, and has some very subtle but major design improvements, without compromising the look.
A real credit to you mate.

Hi all Yellow bike got it very first ride out today to the mot shop since not being on the road since 1997 looking at some old mot certificates that came with the bikeπ Rode well and even the self cancelling indicators work after nearly 40 years π΅ Have a great bank holiday weekend and ride safe Al

Congratulations Al, Great bike, hows the gear change mod feel? Hi Tony Gear change felt good and neutral selection while running / warm was easy to do but as never knew what it was like before difficult to tell But to be honest it was a bit of a nervous ride out this morning as other than heat cycling to give the engine some running time, the bike since being restored had done zero miles so was worried (maybe to much) that it may break down on way or something else go wrong so really took it easy just so I can get the mot But no need as bike was okπ Think next step once bike is registered is to get on a dyno just so she can be set up right π Catch up soon Best wishes Al

Hi Ross
The two you see coming out on the right hand side above the carb mouths I believe are vent pipes for the float bowls
Best wishes Al

Hi folks, just found and joined the forum, what an amazing project and result Alan. I have an 1989 RD350 YPVS that I'd like to get back on the road and I'd love it to be restored to a condition similar to yours Alan, but seriously, what sort of costs are involved in getting your bike to the condition it's now in? (It's probably impolite to ask, sorry, but PM me if it's not appropriate and you're able to give an estimated cost.) The bike has been sat for 20 years (literally) in our back garden under a cover. I'd appreciate guidance from any of you good folks on who to ask and where to start a restoration? I don't have a garage or workshop so not able to do any real work myself. Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'm so amazed by the result you've achieved I have to dream for a little while Cheers, Dave

Dave post a hello in general chat or lc chat and introduce yourself, and we can then all chip in, price wise its how deep are your pockets, they can be built to a budget but most of us over spend and the bloke above is the oil pump king.
