I'd like to know more about that circuit in general, to see an exploded diagram of a carb and the part it plays would be nice. Has someone replaced those brass balls with a threaded fastener, something that's easy to remove/replace or have I dreamt that. +1 on this.. I'm at a loss to understand how a venturi blocked with a brass ball causes this amount of grieve...🤔

More Progress, Heads and barrels on, Reeds in, Clutch cover fitted, Pressure tested, Lost .25 PSI in an hour, I'm happy... Bunch of other little bits and pieces, 2Stoke oil in and pump bled, Radiator and cover fitted and full of coolant, Gearbox oil in, We nearly have a runner.

Hmmm, Decision time, What to do, Has anyone any idea which I should go with, The barrels are pretty heavily ported, Squish is at .9mm, Vforce reeds, Tyga pipes, PWK28 carbs, baseline jetting @ 155 main, 42 pilot, N86 needle in the middle, 1.5 turns out. Lectron 34mm carbs that were beasts on my old YPVS that was ported heavily, 1mm squish, Vforce reeds and Toomey pipes....... PWKs are easy to work on, probably a lot better bottom end. Lectrons had shitty low end but nutty top end, Not great for scooting aroun... What to do..........

The YPVS was made to improve mid range that the 4LO missed. With that in mind maybe the PWK'S is the better option

What’s wrong with the rg clutch ?I’ve only rode mine once before I stripped it my only thought was it needed different perch and levers I’ve fitted the new wave washer and shim so hopefully that will be enough for me I couldn’t splash for the gearbox upgrade as I had already spent two grand on the motor

It drags. Drags like nothing on earth You can’t find neutral or shift gears when you pull up at a light. Starts out great when cold. I replaced the cable, fiber and metal plates. Fitted the Rick lance kit. Basket has zero wear as it only has 6000km on it. I tried different perchs and levers with bigger pulls. Still drags. Then second gear exploded on it as they are probe to do. So pulled the gears. Replaced them with billet shafts and gears and a mark dent clutch cover. Still dragged. Pulled the box and sent it out to get a new shaft made to work with the ZX6 clutch. The machinist has made a bunch of them and it fixes the problem. Just google rg400/500 clutch. My old gammas all dragged. It didn’t bother me as much years ago as I just thrashed the shit out of them anyways 😝

Anyone know where I can buy just the rubber cap outlined in red, I don't want to buy the whole setup just for the covers,

Nice one, Thanks Stusco, They are on the next parts list!! On a side note, I sent the carbs out to be vapor blasted, All nice and clean, Took out the brass balls and cleaned the little jet, It was clear... Rebuild the brakes, New seals, pistons and pads, Ill put the carbs and calipers away as Im using the PWKs and a set of Blue Spot R1 calipers, These will be ready for use..

I cant take credit for the finish, I have a guy that refinished alloy parts for restoration jobbys.. He polishes out all the blemishes and flaws and then brush finishes them and then powder coats the clear,

The RZV is up and running at last, Been busy finishing my LC350 and building a Hybrid RZ350 with RGV running gear.. Every single nut and bolt, bearing, seal etc has been replaced with Gen Yamaha, Engine got new Bill Wilson cranks and pistons, Bores are ported and well opened up, Carbs are PWK28s with Bill Wilson filters and throttle cable, Pipes are BTs, Just have to drill and fit the lower cans, This was the first start, took about 3-4 kicks, Started up really easy!!!
Now the problem is getting it painted, My painter has My LC bodywork since Dec 20th and still not done!!! I need to find a new painter as this is getting a bit ridiculous.
