Anyone ever rebuilt a water pump on a RG 400/500 ?I’ve just changed the oil seal put it back together and it’s not a smooth as I would have liked both bearings are silky smooth the bevel gears look perfect but all together it feels notchy it’s all doweled so it can’t be out of line maybe it’s like that normally, any ideas?

I had the same probs with my rg250 frame corrosion that affected the anodised finish I don’t think there is a great deal you can do about it. I’m sure someone will no doubt correct me 😀 I just got a quote for stripping the anodised finish then I prepare the frame then they will reanodise it in what ever colour I want £60 a bargain I think. i might go for black or gun metal

When I visited on Friday they said they had just done a motorcycle frame but I never saw it ,they are good platers Able platers in Livingston Midlifecrisisrd uses them regularly,I’ve never had anything anodised before Maybe I’ll ask Steve’s opinion first I’m sure he’s had stuff done

Stu If you get any colour other than clear you might get dis-colouration on the welds relative to the frame Just a thought

I've had some smaller bits done and they were good. He has warned that some materials take the colour different so if you have a part with billet, cast and weld sections it can shade differently. Clear or silver for me. You can only try as they can easily remove it again. He has said he can change my blue spots to red Steve

I was warned that where the anodising had tarnished previously that it would always tarnish even when renewed, if you aren’t doing a concourse Reston I would not worry too much about it .

It’s more a resto mod so anything goes I can’t leave the frame like that it spoils the bike for me anyway so illl take it to the plater and see what he can do

Yes if there is any corrosion spots they will need rubbed back till the surface is perfect
I got a set of caliper brackets done that had spots and black had grey defects
