Before sorting the front end of the bike, that has thrown up a few banana skins I'll go through the front engine mounts.
The front engine mounts need to make the engine as stable as possible to handle the 100 HP I'm hoping for. So two separate front mounts have to be fabricated.
First, the existing mounts
SDC11571
I have to carefully remove the fixed left hand mount so I can move it inboard the front frame tube
SDC11572
I use a small fine diamond disc so I don't remove much material
SDC11573
And removed
SDC11574
This next image shows both mounts removed
SDC11575
The plan is to have 2 fixed inboard engine mounts (I'm using the stock LC mount, and a YPVS mount from an old PV frame donated by Dusty), and fabricate the 2 new outer "removable" mounts, as spaced apart as I can get them. Combined with the torsion bars, the engine will be well supported.
With the engine in the frame, I can start to work out the chain run
Cheers, Mark

Front engine mounts continued
Excuse the crude "engine bolt", but this is the first image I have of the engine cases in the frame. The rear mount looks easy, with just 2 spacers to make.
SDC11576
SDC11577
I then fitted the second inboard mount
SDC11579
So next, I want to make the 2 outer removable mounts. This involves 2 identical bridge mounts to be welded on the outside frame tubes. Temples made, the template on the left is the bridge mount.
SDC11583
Made out of ali (bridge mount)
SDC11584
And the mounts marked out in 4mm steel
SDC11585
I've nearly finished the front wheel and forks, and had a knackered rear tyre fitted to the Bandit wheel, so it's nearly rolling!
Cheers, Mark

Cheers Dusty, Chris and Ken
Dusty, the pictures don't show the giant scale of the engine - imposing is an understatement!
Chris, progress is good, I'm getting close to having the bike ready for exhausts to be made
Ken, glad you approve

Engine mounts Part 3
I cut out the engine mounts using a grinder and following the paper templates. I then copied the ali template and ground out the folds to form the new front outer frame mounts
SDC11625
And positioned, to give you an idea of what I'm trying to achieve. I've just got to drill the plates and get the captured nuts welded and that should sort the front engine mounts.
SDC11621
Back to the front end, I cut off the R6 yoke ignition switch and Dremeled the front upper yoke flat I then cut up an LC top yoke so I can graft the ignition switch and clock mounts onto the R6 yoke
SDC11618
I then fitted new handlebar risers
SDC11620
And the LC section offered up ready for welding
SDC11619
I've kept the same distance from the stem to ignition switch mount, so the steering lock should work
Cheers, Mark

Amazing piece of work Mark. Those seemingly little fabrication jobs requiring a lot of thought, planning and engineering are the ones which make this special, special. Lovin' it John

Engine mounts - part 4
I mocked up the engine mounts last week, but I haven't got my cylinders/heads back yet from Harry. So I found some old 250 cylinders to check the exhaust route and it would be very close to the mounts. So I lowered the outboard mounts
SDC11631
SDC11632
I'm happy with them now, and all 4 mounts are ready for welding.
Moving on to the sidestand, I made a rear spacer for Triumph stand and fitted it.
The spring post is moved to the outside to give more room for the exhausts
SDC11626
Next, the front wheel spacer needed to be fabricated.
SDC11615
And finished
SDC11616
Cheers, Mark

Congratulations with the progress!
I have a question. I have got myself two YPVS engines and a TZR 250 which currently has a XT 600 engine in it. I plan to make it a four cylinder RD instead.
Do you have any suggestions regarding cut lines and principles for getting the sprocket in the right place? Or maybe you know how to contact Allen and ask?
I am considering reversing center cylinders. What are the pros and cons?
I plan to have 90 degree separation of firing. What would be the ideal crank configuration?
I am just assuming you already have given this some thoughts?
Cheers Bengt
