I picked this up the other day. Been sitting for 5+ years, electrics are butchered for the track, and no oil pump. It came with a few extra bits including an unlined tank and some lovely wheels. The RZ conversion has been nicely done. All brackets welded on the frame for the rear brakes. I'm converting it back to street as I have other bikes for the track. Need something to "toodle" along on... I haven't ridden on the street for a bit, so it will be nice to have a road bike again, for bike nights and after-work rides. The yellow tank on it has been poorly lined, and has a weak seam that appears to have been sealed, recoverable, but not worth my time atm. I will paint the panels (and spare tank) white soon and see about some decals. It's to be a "budget build", so may just have a tuning fork dome on the tank and thats it. Will ditch the OEM pipes for some noise makers soon. here are the extra wheels/boat anchors... will sell the rotors and toss them in the bin I think. Also found some needles in the bin... unsure of where they come from. Pretty sure the number on them was "YA184". Possibly from a Keyster kit? There was a keyster box in the bin with the spares.

Thanks guys.
Managed to find some lights, license bracket, and left switch. They will go on this weekend. Along with some new fork seals.
Should be ready to get the paperwork sorted by Monday.

Thanks for the inside info mello, but it doesn’t look like the drag bars will work. I’ll see what else I can find. Was looking around for the front signal and headlight plugs... couldn’t find them at first... until I cut back the main harness sleeve. More soldering to do... Almost ready to test drive though. Will hopefully have the paperwork and insurance done by early next week, barring any more issues popping up. Just need to find a front brake light switch for the mc

here are the extra wheels/boat anchors... will sell the rotors and toss them in the bin I think. They may be heavy and a daft colour but the wheels should be easily enough to sell on - especially so if the rear is a 350 one.

I am back from my weekend riding trip... The bike functionally did about 800 problem-free twisty-road crank-stressing km (depending on your definitions), like a mf champ.
Electrics are still F'ed. I took apart the gauges in the hotel, redid the ground in that harness, but they are still not working properly. The tach problem is electrical too I think (even though its mechanical drive), as I believe it works at a standstill, but not while riding, which is the same with the signal idiot lights and temp guage. There is another bad ground somewhere.
There was a small oil leak, I believe at the front case joint, which was a consistent few drops per ride all weekend, enough to spray in the wind on to the carb, case and leading edge of the side cover, but not on me thankfully. This will hopefully be fixed when I do the clutch soon, I had some rare slippage at HIGH rpm.
The new battery-tender lithium battery, did not explode, catch fire, or otherwise, and worked as expected all weekend, even with a questionable electrical system.
Front end is making weird noises at slow speed (maybe I can only hear them at slow speed)... I think it may be the cable drive for the speedo. Sounds like a cable slapping a fender, a sort of clunkyness, but that is defo not what is happening.

Cool bike! Phantoms were fine in the dry, back in the day, but lived up to their name in the wet! My Rg250 MK1 used to spin up in the wet with those, with all of 30bbhp Pirelli now have sportscomp tyres that use the same pattern, for the Shoreditch brown seat brigade.

Good luck! Pipes look like TZR250 ones to me... Alex I don’t think they are TZR250 Alex, as they have far more of a ‘swan neck’. They look like OEM YPVS F/N pipes to me. Jon

Got these from Greece... only labeled as “FZ gauges”. Have a Japanese market speed light... look identical to TZR/N gauges, but not all black...

Would be interesting If you could find out what the clocks are off, could be another alternative for getting N clocks....

These are virtually identical to N2 clocks bucket/faceplate wise... I have tried googling but nothing to show for my searches.
