It’s illegal to alter, move, etc any numbers or digits on a uk registration plate, but if you don’t give a fcuk do it and just pay the fine or at best you’ll lose it.

As it doesn't actually spell anything I'd sell the plate and just get the original one on the bike.

First owner brought reg 14 days b4 bike delivered, so only one it’s ever had. I was going to sell it and get original plate back on it, till I saw date on DVLA paperwork. I’ve never been a fan of plates like that and would never buy one.

I'm with you Bryan never understood people who move numbers/letters around to make something nobody else has a clue what it's supposed to be or say should be fined double for being so f*ckin' stupid.

Running around with a small or altered number plate is a great excuse for plod to stop you in the first place. Yeah you may end up with just a fine for that offence but it's a good opportunity for them to find/nab you on something else too.

Stay out of North Wales or the Taffy Taliban will get you...... We must have been lucy, the Mrs and me did this route a few weeks ago on the bikes and it was mega, roads where quiet and saw only 1 camera van. The road surface(vs the UK) was fantastic as well.

I've only had one private plate on my bikes I bought L7 AYA simply due to the fact it fitted on a very small plate using legal size letters and spacing Sold it on for the 2 following reasons 1 - got fed up with people asking what it stood for. Feck all!!! Stop asking 😠 2 - after riding for 20 years accident free I crashed both bikes I fitted the plate to. Not superstitious but weird 👻😱👻 Steve

They really are in stealth mode nowadays. I know it’s slightly off topic, but I built a Westfield with an S2000 engine. The front plate on that was microscopic (I”ll try and find a picture), to the extent that someone with twenty twenty vision laying on the road in front of it would struggle to read it. Never got pulled for it in three years, but I don’t remember anyone passing me either 😎

No! so close, but you missed the Evo Triangle! Did that twice last month, stunning roads... as you say, much better than Blighty... or Aus for that matter. no cops at all sighted the whole time I was in Wales.

Funny to me that this article say this (which was said a lot when plates in the UK were being clamped down on): “Plates displaying numbers and letters that have been altered, re-arranged, obscured or are difficult to read are illegal as they stop the vehicle being readily identified." What they meant back then (and I suspect now too) was the Speed Cameras and ANPR couldnt read them automatically... In Aus the plates are made by the govt, you get them sent or handed to you register. But we have multiple variation of sizes, colours and fonts and our cameras and cops have no problem reading them. Have a look here of youre keen to see how colourful you can be here... want cats or high heeled shoes on your plate? want your football team? Want a beach scene? want a german or Japanese size and look? weve got it all... for an annual price lol. You can get standard ones restyled as well for a one off fee: myplates.com.au/#/home

About 2 years ago I was followed by plod in my car (1981 vintage!). They pulled me for an illegal number plate. Eh? The plate on the car was the original but I was informed that you have to have a makers mark on the plate. Fined £60. Last week I found it this is NOT applicable on a car of my age, I think it's 2004 onwards only.
But the corker, aged 17 on my little RS100. Pulled over. Two bike cops. They checked everything and the bike was A1. Then one of them looks at the number plate and points at it. What's this? he asks. Err, a number plate? NO...THIS and points to a black bolt on the plate (yellow).
3 points and a fine. Utter utter w**ker.
