I've asked someone I know who just might have one Peter. Meantime I am keeping my eye out on eBay, just in case. Still kicking myself about the one that was sold. Should have just bought it and lived on beans on toast for a while Alex

One magneto popped up on eBay for £50 but listed as spares only. So...I finished the tank today. Still unsure what style of pinstripes I want to do though! Alex

With no generator thing on eBay I asked on the A/C forum and to my amazement someone had one! Then I saw these and at first thought they were self tapping screws... Thankfully they are the screws to mount the generator on! And it fits perfectly. So now I need to wire that in. Somehow lol. Next little job is to drill out the YPVS shock so the LC mounting pin will fit. Might need a new drill bit for that...but I do now have every item needed to get the bike running! Alex

Glad the popsicle is back on track Alex, imho white ‘fs1e’ pinstripes would suit it, as a nod to the colour scheme 🤗, fs1e’s were after all available in popsicle purple!.
Keep at it bud. bezzer.

A chap in France who's on the A/C forum sent me an oil pump cover. And (surprisingly) a packet of butter biscuits from Brittany. Delicious. Repairs under way...and in primer ready for some satin black. Alex

Firstly apologies for the lack of, well, anything from me for ages. The weather hasn't helped and my mum needs more and more care. As if that ain't enough I'm moonlighting when she's asleep as a decorator but the funds are needed! But the sun is shining a bit and it's not freezing now so...with some dosh available, I'm getting this bike finished. I want to use the standard LC foot pegs and put the rear sets back on Elsie and I finally won a set on eBay. As soon as they arrive the whole bike is coming apart so the local engineers can do some welding and fab work for me on the frame. Then it's a simple(ish) task of bolting the lot together and see how she goes! Pics to come asap I promise.

Hats off to you Sir!

So...I got the footrests. £50 but I needed them! Very happy too as they are in very good condition. Odd that one side is a little rusty and the other isn't... And I have now realised I need a brake pedal and gear shift too...DOH! Alex

Been there Alex
It’s always the same when you take your eye off the ball for a few months on a project and forget what you are needing to finish.
I’ll bet there will be a few more DOH!! discoveries before you are done. Great to see the popsicle build resurrected again
John🙂

Thanks John. I've kinda got my mojo back after a fair old spell of not doing anything bike related. And risolc from here is sending me a brake pedal! Top man, thanks a lot Dave Alex

The footrests have cleaned up well. When the brake and gear levers arrive I'm going to get her running/riding (note to self, bleed front brakes), then when I'm happy with that the whole lot will be taken apart and the frame off for welding then a powder coat. Meantime I need to think about a rear light. Maybe under the seat and slightly recessed? Alex

Post by donkeychomp on Mar 26, 2020 22:24:38 GMT 1
So...how to mount a rear light? I have a Mito number plate holder. This could be mounted underneath the seat if I get a bar welded across the frame. That or try and find a small race type seat with a fibreglass hump so I could fit a rear light in that. And I've used a Suzuki transfer box rubber (in purple!) to use as a damper for the petrol tank. It also aligns the tank and seat perfectly. Alex

Coming on well.
Do you have a rear shock for it, as I have a few 80/125 LC rear shocks spare...??

The centre stand will be binned and the lugs ground off Jon. I'll be fitting a side stand, just need to work out what I need. Oddly this model never had one!
