hi there everyone
i would like some advice and help if possible i have a mk1 125 LC and its a 12a chassis with a 12a00 carb on it it was running a bit rough up to 4k but after that its quite smooth into the power band any whoo i striped the carb found like a little nest of dust so it was sucking in air i noticed it was running a 190 jet the standard is 195 this has an allspeed so i just wanted to try the standard jet i fitted all that but on start up the bike was revving its head off i had to turn it off by the key i have checked the throttle slide is in correct and not stuck open i just wonder if i have done something wrong when i stripped it
any help would be great thanks

Hi Aidan, Yes, sounds like you've got something not quite right when you've rebuilt the carb. I'd double check that the slide closes fully as it only has to be slightly off the tickover screw to make the engine rev really high. Also, what do you mean by it was sucking air in, seems that's what carbs should do! Where was it sucking in air?

hi ganzeeguy yes i should be more specific when i opened the float bowl i could see a dry little nest of tiny grit particals i think it was getting through the float bowl gasket i have replaced that as well i have checked and double checked the slide was in correctly but it still revved its nuts off i will replace the 190 jet ive just stripped it again ive noticed loads of that grit crap which i think has come from the tank this time ive just jet washed that out and going to see if i can get some internal tank protector or something and external fuel filters
looks like a bit of trial and error on this i think
