Hi All
I am looking at strengthening the frame at the swingarm points, so will need a longer swing arm spindle. Would a YPVS one do the job?
Many Thanks

I used a ypvs on mine, I cut the end off and rethreaded it further. Worked well and I also rezinc'd the pin, came up a treat. When you make the bobbins to space out the swinger plates, cut (mill) one to fit the head of the pin ala ypvs, tho i did it so its fits on both sides not just one. The ypvs pin even tho its waisted, is much stronger than the LC as its not drilled for grease nipples. FYI pics of all the strengthening work I did are at bottom of this page: 2smoked.com/Yamaha_RD350_LC_421cc_Athena_Frame.html

I will get an LC swingarm spindle measured and then get the aircooled and YPVS sizes :-)

Many Thanks Hi 4l04ever, The YPVS spindle will still be about 24mm too long so you’ll have the rethread the end as Jonw suggested. I’ve got a YPVS spindle in mine, but that’s not only the strengthened webs added, but also I’ve spread the frame for more chain clearance with a 4.5” rear wheel. Jon

Cheers
It sounds like a YPVS spindle has enough extra length to do what I need :-)
