Is anybody still using the centre stand with the RGV rear end? looking at it it seems all I'd need is a couple of "top hat" type spacers made and I could then put the bolt through and retain the swinging arm, anybody done something??
Also, for the new bolts I need to buy for the NK kit, what do they need to be hardness wise, something from a hardware place or something special, what about stainless??
Thanks
Phil

Thanks Phil Hi Philmill Is this on a 31k, if so and you are using an NK fitting kit, you will not be able to fit a centerstand as the mounting points are used for to mount the RGV Cushion lever. All the bolts you need should come with the NK kit Mouse

I initially ran a centre stand with an rgv arm but I didn't have be nk kit fitted
I used a machined down h link and custom dog bones

Hi mouse, yes 31K, is there any reason not to just put two spacers instead of the two pieces in the NK kit? or is it a case of not enough strength? I can see that by using two packers it wouldn't clamp up tight, so maybe that is the issue. Regarding bolts, the one to go through where the centre stand goes didnt come in the kit not did a shorter one for the RGV knuckle where it joins the NK kit, so I need those two. I have attached a pic showing original bolt too long. 3dinXe8KSVege6cXv4Hxbw by Philip Millard, on Flickr And a gratuitous picture showing a lovely red frame begging me to build it GWm+7iQRQY+A7GBLhe0pIw by Philip Millard, on Flickr

Thanks Phil Hi Phil, I didn’t end up using the NK fitting kit, but just used it in the end to make a jig. However I believe you’d have the same problem with either. The stand won’t go up enough before it fouls the knuckle, and it would hang dangerously low. As I’m a fan of centre stands, I literally spend a month of Sunday’s making one. Thanks Jon, I hadn't thought about the up position. Thanks for the heads up, I'll look at your post.

Thanks Jon, I hadn't thought about the up position. Thanks for the heads up, I'll look at your post. Phil Phil do you happen to have a pic of the mounting brackets, and how the spacers etc are fitted to the bottom stand mounts please?? I seem to remember the captive nut needs grinding off a bit?

I should have, I'll look now, but yes you need to grind one side, I can remember if its 5mm off or down to 5mm, and if you don't read the instructions right you grind off both sides, then go back to Nigel and ask for a wider spacer Phil
