Nobody knows everything, that's for sure. But as a collective, the forum always comes up with the answers, and usually very quickly too. Never be too proud to ask a question - guys are always happy to help and want to see your build up and running. And any questions asked always benefit others who will cross the same bridge at some point - that's how we learn Dusty

I have written a few times I was not looking forward to tackling the electrical side of the build. So I got a wiring diagram, a cheap loom, very cheap, with battery box/rectifier included. I also watched a few YouTube videos of people stripping looms and cleaning them, as well as reading many posts on here. The loom got stripped of the tape, zip tied so i knew the routes, soaked and cleaned in a electrical cleaner and de-greaser, it dried fairly quick and the bowl I used evaporated in 2 hrs, seriously volatile stuff, wouldn't want to use that indoors! Any damaged wires were cut, repaired and soldered then covered. Thankfully all of the connectors where there, there had been some previous alterations but nothing bad. I will most likely change the fuse set up. I now know all of the connectors, and more importantly how they all fit together, and what i need to progress.. I really am quite chuffed Thought I would share some before and after.

I use a product called "elbow grease" which is a great degreaser, if you spray the connector blocks and wash them out they come up like new, I did my loom and besides being a bit rough the connectors look nearly new. You can usually get this stuff in the cheapo shops like Poundland, last lot came from The Range, not sure if you have one near you.

Loom in place(ish) and the battery box is in place, CDI, indicator unit etc on their way. The wiring for the Banshee coils is done, thanks to everyone who had posted the pictures of that. Any things that look wrong or could be improved, please feel free to comment, this is my first build and everything I am doing is learning from pictures, diagrams, posts and other internet research. Particularly electrics, this is completely new. To be honest I am quite enjoying the electrical side now, and I get the 4L0 wiring diagram, which is a big step from when i first looked at it. Having got as far as I have on my own steam, and now know what it takes to do the ignition, i will most likely attempt to get the bike going myself. I think getting it set up right is a different story, but if i can get it to run I will be very pleased. Still some way to go, but I should have the ignition system done in the next week or so. Then it will be a slight pause to save for switches and lights, as well as all of the associated brackets. There may then be a big pause.....exhausts, tank/panels then spray....£££££££££££

Is Mark Cordwell still painting? I picked up my body kit on Saturday and asked the same question, he is currently negotiating the building lease if he gets it sorted he will continue painting.

After my gauge misreading episode, stator and flywheel are happily fitted. (picture was taken prior to episode) Shock is back out, had to remove some rusted bolts to get the CDI fitted onto the muddy. Stator connectors off, new ones in post, cables cleaned and heat shrunk wrapped Decided to fit a new fuse setup, the loom i had, the previous owner had directly wired by-passing the fuse on one of the connections, some of the clips were missing, so i decided to fit a new connector block and blade fuse box, it kept me amused for a bit... theres a slight glimse of it in the pic. The rectifier had also been bullet plugged, so i got that back to a 6 pin connector... quite therapeutic Will get a pic up when i fix the box in its new home. Bullet connector fitted to temp, and as with the rest of the loom, loom tape used not insulation tape...better apparently, the adhesive is in the tape opposed to attached to it, so when it degrades it wont peel off....just what i read/researched.... Who would have guessed 8 months ago i could have even thought of doing any of this.... saved me a bomb for sure!!

Just maybe i can kick it over mydelf...
Are there any simple/basic carb settings that will get it running?
Essentially, all screws in, then turn X-3 turns, Y- 4 turns?
Sorry for being basic, its not a bit Ive tackled yet.... any idiot guides i can read?

Airscrews 1.5 turns out I think be a good start then go from there. Good to meet you too at Manchester bike show. Speedo arrived still waiting for rev counter but still got a lot of bits to find yet!

For the clock conversion, I think ive worked a way to do it...theoretical though... The thing is, it seams easy, but so many folk have attempted this so I must be missing something, i'll give it a go.

Another quick update. Stator, CDI etc all wired in, had to replace some connectors, it looks a damn sight better than the loom I started with, and considering I wasn't looking forward to it or ever done anything like this im very pleased, not to say it will work..... Oil tank, expansion tank, pipes all in, coil wired in and HT's done. Rad and clocks on floor are now moved to a safe place!!! Essentially switches, lights, grab rail, some hoses, probably other odds and sods. Some tidying up to do, so if you see anything silly I'm most likely aware Paint work currently under way by Mr Cordwell I have even sketched a bracket to fix the clocks, my first effort, so Im going to get it made tomorrow, and see how it goes, you may or may not get pictures......... I have started to log everything i have done, and bloody hell its almost a new bike, very little of it, well none that I can think of hasnt been completely refurbed or replaced, all of the remaining parts will also be new also. I guess thats the price I pay for building a bike from scratch, and what a price...LOL
