Ive made a bit more progress today. Managed to get a carbon mudguard for a street triple. I have also fitted the front master cylinder. The swing arm came back from being powder coated, fairly good result, i have to keep in mind its not chrome or polished anymore, on the positive side it will be a damn sight easier to clean. It does have a significant better consistency opposed to my half baked polishing effort....ah well we live and learn... Its starting to take shap, i should be getting the wheels back tomorrow, and it should then start looking like a bike.

TSA most likely, one each side, I know the swingarm will take single sided, but it just doesnt look right to me. I'm looking around the house for stuff to sell, ive funded most of this by selling stuff i no longer need. Still some way to go, its not going to be done anytime soon. It looks like a lot of progress but this is 8 months saving/building/planning. The motor took so much time to do, im glad i did that first.

I know where you are coming from regards funds I sold a hybrid to Dono last year for £5k. The money was used/being used to fund the finish of both mine. I had a tot up the other day of how much is left - £650 !!! Apart from birthdays and Xmas, bikes fund themselves so I have to sell bikes or bits to fund the next bike or bits ! Still, one is finished and the other nearly finished, although I still hanker after a new loom so that will drain the pot somewhat. Thing is now, you have got a rolling chassis and a rebuilt engine, so a lot of the cost of a build is in those parts. I've got stainless Tsa's and they are lovely pipes. Dave's - Muttsnutts - pipes look gorgeous with the crossover design, and work well too, and I think, excellent value. And I'm with you on a pipe each side - looks so right on an Lc Dusty

The bike looks awesome! and yes likewise I know your pain regarding funds, I've got a couple of expensive watches given to me by an ex boss, I am seriously thinking I'll sell them and build the bike the way I want it, I'll get more satisfaction from the bike Phil

Its really cost a lot more as I was starting from scratch. Tank, pipes and spray is significant, and will also need a loom, bloody seats are a fortune now, not to mention clocks!! Ah well, it will be worth it. I really thought the costs people were quoting to build a hybrid were exaggerated, how wrong I was. When completed at least i will be able to say it was done right and if I end up selling someone may see the work that has gone into it and it will have a reasonable value....

Oooh, you've got some spendy bits to buy yet then A big chunk of the money I've spent in the last year was on 2x tank and panel sets, both then painted by Mark Cordwell. But I don't regret it for one minute - selling the hybrid last year was a wrench, but it enabled me to move the remaining 2 on and I could never have afforded the bits for 3 unfinished bikes anyway. But they are significantly more expensive to build each year, and it's quite likely a total rebuild on a quality hybrid is around the £10k mark nowadays Good luck with funding the bits you need - where there's a will.... Dusty I'd agree with that figure, the big bits you can quantify, its the little bits that you buy that add detail that when you add up really make a difference. If I think what the motor alone cost, with buying cylinders and head, getting them blasted then honed/re-bored, bearings, crank, casings, carbs etc... wow, its scary..

Hopefully the money you've spent on the engine will pay dividends with reliable service. I know they are old 2 strokes but a well built and set up engine should give hours of fun I'm certainly going to treat mine with more mechanical sympathy than I did all those years ago ! Rebuilds cost far too much money !! Dusty

Rebuilds cost far too much money !! Dusty Im happy with the build, it all feels right, gears are selecting nicely, its smooth, pressures are right, Ive used all the right bits and ive followed the letter to the law. I'll learn as I go along with the electrics, im not daft, but im also now too proud to ask when required. I honestly think, the final set up will require real expertise/knowledge, and I'm not going to do all this work and do something like not prime the pump.... I'll go as far as logic and research can take me, then its over to the chaps that know.. There is a fine line between being confidence and blind ignorance. Hopefully someone on this forum will allow me to watch and learn.. that is what its all about, desire, learn, produce.... (Jesus that bordering deep thoughts...)
