So, I am finally starting to make some sort of progress so i thought best to start a proper thread. I have absolutely no engineering/mechanical experience, took a crank out an LC in the early nineties. LC was my weapon of choice, couldn't afford RGV's etc. Saw the famous RGV back end on an LC and my brain fell out!! Last year for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to get an LC, then saw hybrids and the brain melt moment came back to me.... So here we are. So far i've spend a lot more than I thought, im building it slower than I thought, and parts are, even in 8 months getting more expensive (certain bits). What I started with. RD250LC I wanted a 350, so sold all of the 250 parts, wheels and top end. The forks swing arm etc were also sold, this recouped the money to get 350 top and other bits. The bottom end was missing alot, and with my zero know how, it was a case of Haines manual and learning on the fly The 350 head was a bit battered but Martin sorted that out a treat The 350 barrels were on standard bore which was a bonus, so MBD re-bored them, new pistons, with the lip taken off also by Martin. All vapor blasting by FJ Near Skelmersdale New pistons, rings, clutch, all bearings and bushes, crank, seals, ... wont go on, you get it.... And after... Carbs untrasonic, head painted and put together, pressure tested, all done. (just need electrics). New Oil pump from Arrow, Just noticed the beer..... The swing arm I am going to use is a NC29 Gull-arm. In my foolishness and being bored over the winter I polished it, far too much hassle, mess ans unless your good, which I am not you can see its not as good as it could be, so it going to get chrome powder coated. The forks are off a Street Triple, which CBR600f wheel fits right between the calipers, with just addition of a couple of spacers!! Bonus, and its the same style wheel as NC29. So, NK has also delivered some rearsets and new shock. All of the machining has been completed, and the wheels and frame are off to Triple S to be powder coated tomorrow. I have everything I now need to put the rolling/breaking chassis together with the motor. Electrics, exhausts and cosmetics to go..... Sorry for the massive pictures

Thats why its taking me so long, trying to learn on the fly and build something that I can really be proud of. Just not looking forward to the electrics, still, its all a learning curve..

Couldn't agree more with the above, going to look really nice when finished, some good looking wheels and forks you've chosen. I assume NK is modding the swingarm as well?

What a fantastic build - I'm following with interest as I plan to fit a NC29 arm to the next project. The engine looks a work of art.
Well done, great choices so far.
Cheers, Mark

He did, really nice bloke also! Nigel is a good bloke however whatever time frame he has quoted, triple it then add a month He has done some stellar work for me and is now doing more. My bike is with him as we speak.

Nice project and I use Mark at F&j motorycles in Skelmersdale for all my aqua blasting and he always does I great job and it helps living only 10 mins from him. I now stay away from polishing alloy like swing arms etc as its a lot of work and never ending , I go for a brushed finish on the alloy useing Scotch pads. Keep up the good work and plenty pics.

Hi Nick Wow, looking really good mate The engine looks awesome. There is a lot of work getting it look that good. And the polished swingarm looks good too. Again, a lot of time taken to get them like that. They are difficult to keep nice though - especially on the inside where you cant reach with the wheel fitted. The chrome powdercoat looks good - a couple of guys on here have done it with great results. I think owning an Lc is as much about building/improving/customising as much as riding them, and you are certainly gonna benefit from all the hours and time spent. I look forward to your progress - it's going to be an lovely hybrid for sure Dusty

Im just waiting on parts from Nick for mine which will be very similar NC29 swingarm and wheels but im using GSXR1000 forks, having seen you post might have been easier to go same as you but we will see.
Look forward to watching the updates

Bit are starting to come back ready for the initial build. Forks are now on, wheels are getting tyres fitted as we speak/type.. Engine is in, all of the mounting plates were zinc plated, as were cylinder head bolts, and a load of other smaller bits... As you will notice, its getting done indoors, the garage is full and my office is a shithole. When the wheels etc are fitted it should get tidier (sorry felt like I was speaking to the missus then)...
