So after an eternity looking for a billet sidestand I bought I,ve given up the ghost of finding it for now so have bought another stock unit for the meantime , after my hols I,ll get the chassis built back up onto 2 wheels so I can work out a way of making some lockstops for the yokes I,ve also gotta make some sort of headlight mount too enable me too mount my headlight fairing...

I know exactly what you are going through. I have gathered loads of parts for my own rebuild and cannot remember for the life of me where half of them are. Holding me back I have re purchased some of them twice to get me going but no doubt when I make a bit more progress I will find the bloody things. Stick with it bud and we will get there eventually.

Hi All it,s been some time since i last updated this thread as the bike was finished , but i now need a new frame for this as the one i have is twisted/bent... so the hunt is on for a new frame, i have the rest of the running gear and engine fitting kit , so that helps, engine will still be my dry clutch RD350 YPVS MOTOR or i might build myself a 375 long rod motor as i have the new NOS barrells and a +4 hotrods crank just sitting doing nothing in the spare room... this build will be a slow build until i have a new frame, ive put a wanted ad in the classified section so lets see what happens....

Good to see you back Mr K Can the frame not be repaired ? I hear Maidstone Motoliner are very good at what they do. Dusty

Dusty If you decide to go to Maidstone motorliner, pop in for a coffee on the way there or back. I live about 15 minutes from them on your route. I think this is the best cheaper option, as there is no guarantee if you pick up a new one it won’t also be bent. p.s. I thought you kept your NOS YPVS cylinders on the kitchen windowsill? 😉 Jon

So on this rebuild i,ll be using the black R6 13S front forks kitted out with OHLINS internals that i,ve still got , i need to purchase a set of R6 13s yokes which i,ll have modified to fit the RS headstock.. Its lucky i have a chassis too rob parts off as a lot of the parts required are NLA , i,ll match the front forks with an OHLINS AP714 rear shock absorber, a new frame is still available for a mk2 RS250 so i,m more than likely too purchase this than try an find a used frame...I will post pic,s as the parts become available, i,m looking forward to the rebuild.....

Nice to hear from you Mr K, i too can vouch for Motoliner. Yes, it is easier to straighten a steel frame but they can do ally if not too bad, it really would be worth trying them, they are extremely good and honest.

I’m thinking of getting mine checked by them for piece of mine. Last time I asked I think it was £70 to check and a further £180 if work needed doing.

So ive had a good think about the frame and have deciced too buy a new one as i dont think i,ll pick up a used one with a V5 ... The swingarm i have is slightly dented in places so i,m thinking of replacing that with a new one as well , this isn,t a money no object rebuild so funds are limited... My NOS barrels need retuning and the head reprofiling to suit, the hunt is on for someone who can do both at the same time, i,ll post up some pics of the bits i have left once i remember how.... Atb MR K

I've used an SV650 before, small enough to fit nicely behind the right hand side of the radiator.

Good to see you back Maidstone Motoliner advertise alloy frame straightening Would save the minefield of registering a new frame Steve I used them on my RS 250 frame, absolutely top fellas and a great company. Would you believe they often take in brand new race bike frames meaning factory fresh road bike frames for superstock/sport/bike etc and jig them straight!!

So these are what i found amongst the contents of the shed.... The righthand side casing is fitted with a billet water pump impellor and EZ drain cover there,s also a billet water pump drive gear, these parts can now be crossed of the wanted list..

So whilst i await arrival of the chassis all i can do is collect parts... i found these tucked up in the garage, they consist of R6 brake levers and clutch mount , new oil pump and a billet intake manifold........
