Owned this bike longer than any other bike and still can't decide if I love or hate it still LOL
Guess I was hoping the prices would rise but still only worth a big apple and a bag of pork scratchings !

Always wanted a white lightning or the 'nuclear orange' one. Great looking bikes. You aren't based in Coventry are you.

Not too far away !
Yeah the White Lightning for me is the Classic Buell then around 2002 they fecked about with them and made the fuel in the frame models

They look a bit like my Harley, but not as powerful.
Old joke for those who were at the Gibsons dyno day some years back...

Looking at a headlamp retro fairing to fit but there are that many brands out there, I don't know where to start ! and you really need to try them on the bike to see how they sit etc !

This looks like the solution ....

Yamaha mt 01 nice, it's similar to a Ducati 900ss bevel fairing loads available on eBay and cheap I fitted one to my 900ss belt drive. Like this I have bought from ricambi Weiss www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311631119134

Time has come to seriously think about letting the Buell go
What do folks think these oddballs are worth ?
2001 year
It was dynoded a few years a go at 89BHP and 79Ft pounds of torque for a Harley (Hardly) engine !
Was even thinking of breaking it

I seriously considered one before the bmw, the early ones like yours are worth more than the later ones as they have a reputation for grenading.

They are fragile, so 2 stroke owners would feel at home LOL
Mine is more of a Harley engine , so parts should be more readily available
Definitely quirky bikes and not for everyone
Has a few Metmachex parts too like the alloy swingarm and the oil tank which is a third bigger than the original plastic one A Mikuni HSR42 flatslide carb which is as big as a brick !
S1 single seat conversion using genuine Buell parts RRC (German Buell specialist) widened rear wheel to accept a 180 tyre Top yoke and fatbar conversion
These things shake like a shitting dog though LOL

I've actually ridden one. And a Sportster. How the f**k they claim 50bhp from 1000cc is a sporty bike is beyond me. I kinda liked the Buell but what put me off was that lump of iron powering it. If he had made a bike like that but with ANY other engine it would be fantastic. But a quirky and unique bike...I'd keep it mate, don't think you'll ever get your money back on it sadly.

I would of bought a short arse friendly scg.. if the hardly dealers wanted to sell me one... you would of thought that I had asked them to lick a dog turd of my shoe when I enquired about one. They must of hated having something that looked like a f**king real bike invading and soiling their showroom. Will never set foot in one of them so called "bike" dealers ever again...

Had the opposite experience from Southampton Harley when I briefly bought and owned a 1200xlcr roadster looked great but by god it was awful, crap riding position, motor that struggled to top a ton, and it weighed about the same, handling that was interesting, I still love the look of them but they aren’t for riding. Buells on the other hand I think are cracking looking bikes, esp like this one the early s1.

I have decided to sell the Buell but looking at prices I might be better breaking the bike to sell in parts
Anyone have a view on this :-)

Such a hard bike to value, when I was seriously looking I was offered everything from 3 to £6k I can’t see the parts making the upper region or even much over the lower prices but that’s my take. What do they say on the buell forum?

Was offered £2500 on that forum about 6 years ago ...
Have owned it 18 years now , longer than the LC Now that I'm coming to the end of the Hybrid build, should I sell the red LC and save the Buell as it's so different to the LC and the Triumph Bonneville
All Twins but all way different

Job to say isn’t it sadly they don’t seem to be fetching much money, lc as you know will fetch good cash but then what if you ever need to replace it? They are only going up in value. Shame you have to get shot of it, a man needs more than one bike and I’m currently only possession of the one.

No project I'm afraid
The poor bike either needs being turned into an S1 lookalike or a café racer !
It already has an S1 back end and needs the headlamp cowl refitting , but for an S1 lookalike it would need an upside front end
Be better off a modern 4 banger with dual front discs etc ?
