Got stuff back from powdercoaters today Not 100% happy but don't think I ever am LOL Frame number was masked off so just a bare metal strip which will have to be painted in when the German frame is registered Banana arm is still showing the dinks/repair so going to need filled and blown over but I kinda guessed it would
So still work to do !
Will sort a few pics out

Random pic time !
Powder coated footrest brackets plus a few spares
I like the standard footrests , even though it's a Hybrid When you get to a certain age , they are in the right position, believe me :-)

Had the LC headlamp rim powder coated too as chrome wasn't great and had some road rash but still usable Did use M5x8mm button heads to hold the 2 rings together Someone is sending me the little screw , nylon bolt and spring so just need the "w" clips to hold the headlight rim in All little things but need doing :-)

Got the light in and it is a bit of a squeeze, but this lens is an aftermarket one Now I had to take one of the button head screws out to get it in so it looks like I need the original "flat" screws to get the clearance

Got it in ! Wouldn't recommend it though and you really need those flat screws The one side isn't the problem, as you tilt the lens in past it, it's the other side where it needs squeezing over the top of the button head The headlamp ring does flex a bit so that helps

In the new LC headlamp I bought ages ago but new problem ffs The headlamp shell is Yamaha so are the headlamp rings I had powder coated but the 2 screws that hold the rim to the shell don't quite line up !

I did this on my old LC but that was with an aftermarket rim on a standard shell
Sacrilege on a new part but drilled 7MM and inserted some alloy tube 6mm I.D. to give a little wriggle room
OK I promise no more pics of the feckin headlamp LOL

Black! So much better than that awful olive green. Why on earth did they choose that colour? Did they have a ton of it in a vat somewhere?

Alex I stand to be corrected, but wasn’t an LC headlight rim chrome? One of the few bits that was along with grab rail, top yoke bolt etc. Maybe your thinking of the early YPVS models? Jon

LC's were chrome but chrome is for Harleys
Do not over do the chrome on an LC, it's against the law !

I was referring to the foot rests but I kinda like the black headlight. Alex I couldn’t agree more about it being an awful colour. The trouble is a lot of people try to replicate the original during restorations just because ‘that’s how they were from the factory’. When decorating/renovating an older house you don’t rip all the carpets up and have bare floorboards, take all the electrics out, sweep the chimney for an open fire etc; you do it how you want with the finish you want. You don’t put it back to how it was when it was built. So why do so many restore faithfully an LC? That’s why I like hybrids. Jon

I can see why they do it because that's how it was
That's why I like Hybrids too !

Too bleedin' right both of you. When I got my first ever LC first thing I did was slap some expansions on it. Then clock protector bars. Then jacked up the back. Probably made the whole thing a lot worse but who cared? It looked cool!

Got to tackle the uneven surface of the powder coated banana arm
I did have the main stuff welded and filled but there is a lot still showing !
Going to rub it down and try some P38 filler , then good old Simoniz tough black I have already sprayed some tough black on to see how it matches and looks OK to my mole eyes :-)
(There is a bit just above the threaded hole for the bobbin too)
Any tips before i start :-)

I reckon the main area is actually the marks on the recessed area Try filling that area then blend in the paint and see how it looks. It's surprising how little you see in the front half depending on your rearsets. Either that or just stick a carbon cover on it lol Steve

Will have a go myself then if I can't get a good finish then ask my mate as he does car repairs and if that doesn't work then a carbon cover may be on the cards but another expense I don need

The weld in the recess looks proud so I'd think more material needs removed then a little filler at the transition from weld to arm

Mate trimmed down the Ducati Monster mudguard as I felt it was too long Just need to get it fitted now !
The brake discs I have , I have found cracks in them so looking at some EBC discs at £120 each which I suppose ain't bad for EBC These wheels were on my old LC built 10 years a go so need repainting but it has held up pretty good really
