Hi all got a 125lc petrol tank with a locking cap on it how do I get said cap off with no key without butchering tank any ideas TIA

I use a dent puller with a self tapping screw bit on the end(I bought it to do left crank seals). The lock barrel pulls out then use pointed pliers to squeeze the locking mechanism open.
or you could drill out the lock enough to get a large flat blade down there and force turn it open. If you do too much damage though you can end up with the metal cap lower falling into the tank and tricky to get out.

Cheers museum man I found a random key in my tool chest yipee it's the right one result pulled a big bit of filler off oh no big hole in tank doh

The last lock I forced open I did have the key for but cap was seized and didn't want to bend the original Yamaha key. You can remove lock barrels and get them to match keys if you have enough brass pins.
