(bloody van clutch went, £450 notes with full service gotta wait for next pay to start chroming, always something to stop the party ) were getting there.......................slowly of course thanks Jamie ;D ;D

TYRES BLOODY TYRES.............. Jesus Christ where and what type of tyres can i get for this little project? ? found a couple of possibilities: michelin pilot sporty uni front 275-18 42p, rear pilot sporty uni 300-18 57p. pirelli mt65 front 275-18p reinf uni, rear mt65 90/90-18 reinf rear. no dunlop, metzeler or conti ?? all available from MPS, like pirelli never tried michelin real lack of choice for such a small bike! (and some maxxis shite)

ha haaaaaaaaaaaa ;D ;D, the final part of the engine finally turned up from japan via a grey importer here. the power valve cover is here, fooking £25.95!, (£13.00 part, £10.00 air mail from japan, £2.95 p+p to me) ah well its here and the engines 100% complete. just getting some parts chromed/re-chromed now, 26 pieces £150.00 plus a possible 3 week wait! when they get back i can finally put the engine in the frame, (the rear swing arm is part of the rear engine mount!). things (i can remember) i need are: tyres grips dinkywinkz (indicators) poss new (old stock) seat cover THE PAINT JOB! (clues are a blue speedblock theme!) new c**kpit fairing (skidmarx) new (modify) 125 belly pan (skidmarx) a few odds and sods ("p" clips etc etc) has any one got a set of rd125lc rear wheel adjusters spare, i want to see if i can get them to fit as the original 80lc ones have gone oval (due to the immense torque and power from the unrestricted engine , i have replacement 80 ones but i can see them going the same way!) haven't given up its just time and money that's holding it up getting there though! thanks Jamie

things are moving slowly along..... got the chroming stuff being done now back end of august ish, SKIDMARX are making a copy of the top rd80lc fairing as well as a copy of the rd125lc bottom fairing approx 2 weeks for that, norbo is making up a set of one off decals for the bike with a couple of ypvs and other stickers to go on (hopefully he won't give away the colour scheme we all know speedblock but how?) bin doing a bit of body work while i wait for the other stuff to be ready: start of tank striping, found 5 colours under the yellow, white, black, red, gold and yellow, final stripped tank, all the crap that came off, 4 coats of primer so far got to 1400 wet+dry before final primer coat, bin a lovely day seemed a waste to do this but it has to be done, tomorrow i'll put a base coat of primer on so the rust does not set in, then back to wet+dry until smooth. thanks Jamie.

the priming is now done: ordered and payed for a copy (from SKIDMARX) of the rd80lc fairing and the rd125lc belly pan. these have arrived or so i thought, the belly pan is perfect but they send me an rd80mx fairing, not happy, its being sorted out as we speak (hopefully as they cost £72.00). something about the workshop floor not reading the order right or replacing the order with a different one cause the rd80lc mould is faulty, either way its wrong. acquired a few more "hard to get parts" from kicky1 on the rdrz forum very helpful man. getting links engineering to make a few "special " parts done for the bike in stainless of course, won't give to much away but lets say no one else has thought of what i am hopefully getting. just a case of waiting for the chroming parts to be done and i can finally get it looking like a bike again. thanks jamie.

thanks guys very appreciative of you all.
i am going to be putting on a few blue LED'S in various inconspicuous places to highlight various parts of the bike, if done correctly (via a switch an diodes) they should be hidden when off, but look the dogs when on..........oh yes this will be a very special bike when done.
(i'll photo the stuff and see if you can spot it on the bike when finished)

ha! ha! at last we have the chromed parts, Christmas has come early and don't they look lovely ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D the parts; the (ex microloy) micron; the swing arm; right the weekend will be busy, the bike can come out of the indoor shed and into the garden/outdoor shed for some serious TLC and put back togetherness............still won't rush though can't bugger it up now. things to do: put it back together! (including fabricate new engine spacers etc) figure out whats missing during rebuild and source, finalise the top coat of paint, buy: tyres grips more stainless Allen bolts anything else that needs buying/doing? then test engine, test ride, get local dvla to re-register it (hopefully with the original no. plate don't really want a "q" plate) then mot, and the hardest part, try to get it added to my insurance policy. i have already spoken to them but they say the company could dismiss it as its not a standard bike, might have to change insurance companies then. i really can't wait but in the same breath i don't want to rush it. thanks for the interest Jamie.

bin a bit busy taking a break due to football (unless they play shite) forks assembled + on bike: bike ready for some more assembly (note done some just waiting for right moment to show): right, engine in (loosely) as to line up chain and sprockets, see the gaps i have to make spacers for: as expected the new chain and sprocket arrangement has missed the gear shaft (see previous post): by the end of the week end hope to have the spacers made and get some more stuff on..................................

Looks mint polished!!!! it comes standard on unrestricted models, the engine is from a dt125lc mk3 originally from Saudi Arabia but imported by a mate of mine in 1985 (1-9-85). he accidentally reversed his dads van into it and i waited a while and offered him £400 he accepted the rest is history. you can get them from Japan but you have to order through a grey importer i use Elliot m/c (see previous thread) got the proper one for the other side as well. that's polished up too with the blue high lights as well.

yep nice pic's thanks for the help to upload correctly. bloody weekends not long enough, plus just started to drizzle, managed to put every thing away just before it hit. well things moved on this far today; got the tyres on, and then the wheels on, and the whole back end. put the foot rests on, grips as well. here's a few close ups (including the power valve); note the rad not secure gotta make new brackets for them as well as the clocks, head light, fairing and belly pan. it least i can wheel it around now to work on it better. as before getting there.......................................

looking good there was sum fairing brackets on trusty ol ebay.last pair only went for £10 yer thanks but its a hybrid remember nothing fits as its supposed to (look at the p/v mount). so i have to make them in cardboard first then transfer to the ally then cut and grind and shape and drill and polish up then fit (to find there out and start all over again ha ha). any way thats part of doing this job properly this time getting it right (or as near as possible). as i say at work "spot on near enough".

right as its pissing down done a few small things (like belly pan, its a stunner but not going to show yet give you boys to many ideas ;D). list of things to FINISH it (bin trying to work out whats left to do as i cannot get into the WET garden): need to get; clutch lever, rd125lc screen (dark tint), gear lever collar, front indicators, new seat cover (on eBay) possible things to get (replace existing stuff); front light assembly, front inner tube, dt yies chamber, things to finish; painting bodywork (like yer now its raining bollocks), polish brackets that show, things to fit on; clutch cable, tacho cable, speedo cable, front brake caliper and cable and bleed, bodywork (to finalise decal fitting/line up, rear light, front light, exhaust pipe, some sort of rad cover???, things to make/fabricate; brackets for lower belly pan mounts (hopefully Sunday), bracket for exhaust side mount, fairing brackets, front light brackets ( ), repair seat lug (ally plate+fiberglass), some led's (if i can hide them if not no), gear lever rod (80 one to long), things not listed above; put in engine oil, 2 stroke oil (both rock oil), coolant, brake fluid, and of course petrol. SEE IF THE BLOODY THING WORKS AFTER ALL THIS? ?. re-register it (local dvla office), mot. insurance are yes....... already phoned them up (devitt for tzr) and asked them if i can put on the hybrid, well could be that the company they are using might not like the bike and refuse to insure it cause its a hybrid .....hum might have to change companies well i think that's about it but with these projects there's always something you miss..............getting there. thanks Jamie

absolutely, completely, and really really f**king yes f**kING gutted. finally found a full ledar kit on eBay, in the process of chatting to the guy about payment (got no pay pal account don't trust the b*****ds) when some one got the last one he had for my bike. secondly got yet another front puncture on the front wheel time for a new inner tube, (just managed to "pop" out the bead as well, b*****d!!! rant over.............. good news getting the last of the genuine parts of rob (yorkyam) for the bike, (don't panic norbs you would have not had what i wanted anyway). just put on "rose" joints for the gear lever selector, waiting for the collar of rob to put in the correct length rod. weekend try and sort out front fairing if not get new light assembly and fit that to hide the wiring. here's hoping for good weather for finishing the painting................

Looks fantastic mate. Just what i like to see - all done by your own fair hands, not a money no object ornament. Well done. the budget was a £1000 over the year/time it took/takes to finish, i have just about reached that so i am very happy. ratio of new verses second hand is about 60/40 (new - s/h), this is because some parts are either no good second hand or simply can't get hold of them. some new parts gotta have (brakes, tyres etc). the joy is doing it and having a forum like this to be able to keep a record of progress. during the winter i WILL finish it, now is the time to really "polish it off". i will disassemble any nuts and bolts that can be seen and polish them, touch up paint marks, fiddle with mounts etc. i was hoping to get it ready before the end of "summer???" but alas it was not to be................. already got next project lined up..................... its a jap market only tzr50r, now looking for a 150 - 200 cc Yamaha 2 stroke to put in it or turn it into a black (ghost-rider) no tax, insurance etc police nightmare he he he or just do a 50cc (as its unrestricted already) street rod jobbie.

right this weekend might be it i finally have all the parts to get it up and running (at fooking last!). time, light and weather are the problems now, don't want to rush the final set up (already put a small scratch in the tank b*****d ). still got a few special parts to add but they can go on any time, its the big test to see if after all this hard work she actually works/runs??? then its a parshall dismantle to polish clean/touch up the 'bad' areas and then its into storage until the weather picks up, not gonna get that dirty after all the polishing, chroming etc. there are a few things i'd like to do when it works; coloured hoses, coloured p/v cables etc and believe it or not get a stage 2/3 tune i want to really scare the bigger bikes not just in looks but speed too ( it would be nice to break the ton in real time not just what my clocks have told me!) might have a word with norbo about nitrous.................

good news; [glow=red,2,300] its alive[/glow] yes it started 3-4 kick bloody marvelous. revs sweet as a nut (bar sound below) head needed tightening down to stop coolant bubbling out (done) bad news; teething problems, sounds like a bag of spanners, think its the water pump impeller spinning with no water as the thermostat is stuck so its coming out at the weekend. (that or the big end is shot! ) leak in the micron, where the manifold piece slides in, not correct angle so bit of modding needed (a big hammer) clutch needs tweaking, let her idle a bit and if i think its the big end then out the engine comes (then find a local shop to put new in plus crankcase seals while there at it but jumping the gun a little....... more as it happens on radio 80/125lc......
