love it , the tank and seat really look like they were meant to be , the fat as fook forks , swingarm etc etc
being a bit new on here im gradually reading all the build threads ( a bit like bingeing on box sets?) and admiring all the thought , dedication and hard work going in to the builds

Hooked up the fuel tap this morning, tell me guys will I need to fix a breather pipe as this tank will be sealed...you can see in the pick theres a larger circular entry point where the original fuel pump would go as this is now removed and will be resealed I'm sure the breather pipe will be needed to help fuel flow easier to ask than mess about.π www.dropbox.com/sc/k161roxl53zyb8v/AABbYIV786owje4hFF2G97--a

Hi mate The tank will need to breathe for sure. An Lc tank breathes through the key slot in the cap. I fitted a new billet cap made by Wicked, and it's design meant the sealing washer restricted the groove that was meant to allow the cap to vent, so it couldn't. Every time I opened the cap there would be a loud hiss where pressure had built up in the tank. I had to drill a small hole all the way through the cap and then it was fine. Another member had the same cap, and same problem and his bike would die on a run due to fuel starvation where the cap wasn't venting.

Experimented with silver soldering must say very impressed so attached the hangers to my exhausts the strength is amazing for very little effort when i've finished rubbing down and polishing will post up some more pics will be doing so much more with this method ππ photos.app.goo.gl/kyCLzp5yk33GhVqx9

Just seen the pics. What exactly is silver soldering. I can solder fine but my welding looks like bird droppings lol.

Alex It's cool stuff seen it on YouTube it's referred to as ssf-6 muggy weld from the USA expensive but I trawled through eBay and found a similar product 5 rods 250mm flux coated so bought them had a practice it's pretty easy just take your time, it will weld just about any metal just use a hand held gas blow touch, look it up there is a video showing 2xSS washers it welds as strong as mig with and good finish too go for it ππ

Brilliant results but like you say it ain't cheap lol. Alex The rods I bought were Β£16:95 for 5 didn't think that was too bad as many others are pricey but yeh happy with the results...welding in my opinion isn't cheap unless you do loads of it this option is really good value ππ

Welding and silver soldering completely different methods of joining metal. Did both pretty much every day working for 20 years in a naval dockyard. As the two surfaces being joined are not being fused together as in welding, the larger the contact area the better.(as topman has done) You can weld edge to edge and still achieve good strength, but that would be weak if silver soldered, you would have to overlap the edges. Better strengths are obtained on copper/brass/copper nickel materials than steel and stainless steel as the βbondβ is not so good. Silver soldering also known as brazing or easi-flo. Expensive because the rods are between 40%/55% silver!!

It looks really good Topman Does it help to have experience of welding to use it ? Dusty Not at all Dusty but it still needs care especially when heating the metal this needs to be a dull red then add the flux from the rod you'll see it do its job and then add the rod working it into the edge area it will then melt and puddle and the flux will suck in the solder same as capillary action then leave to cool down before attempting any cleaning...I would do a couple of practice runs first you'll soon grasp it. ππ

As Bazza says a fused weld is always better as this has the penitration but for this kind of work and brackets etc just the job π

When the flux cools it can be difficult to remove as it feels hard as glass. Best way to remove the excess flux is to soak the brazed part in warm water as this dissolves the flux. Difficult with exhausts but put a wet rag around area and change a couple of times and in 15 mins the flux will be goneπ

Decided to change the rear sets due to when I lowered the black ones they didn't sit right down to the angle so bought these titainium ones and made some new brackess in Ally I will silver solder theses on but will polish them first and leave an end line by the frame so when the frame gets powder coated it won't interfere with the bracket... I'll post a pic when completed π www.dropbox.com/s/7fg797fbu8wy1i8/IMG_20180831_180405.jpg?dl=0

You canβt silver solder alloy!!!!! Baz I did a test on it with mild steel and it's solid Baz?

Aren't you effectively going to stick two pieces of ally together, no penetration. Needs welding surely given it'll be load bearing

Mild steel,no problem. But not aluminium,no Try and get it adhere,it just wonβt & the melting points are very close to each other Baz
