"They" are asking this sort of money for A1 400s........this is far far from A1, probably nearer the B1285 Wrong inst console for a uk C..for starters and at nearly 9k!!

Crazy, like others have said, not even 100 point perfect and still asking daft money. We have some dickhead here listing a 77 model which he has 'customised' (too many errors to list here) and wanting $9.5k - absolute dreamer! 😳
This hobby of ours is getting seriously out of hand and it just shows that greed is unavoidable with some people I guess.
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase caveat emptor eh?

That's a Canadian C model, the idiot light cover is correct for that market. I sold a mint uk c model last year for 3.5k. 9.5k is mint e/f models.

Some non Uk bikes were made to a lesser spec. Although not LC- the Suzuki GS US Spec were build with a single front disc! And some non UK RD's were full of restrictions.

Uk and matching numbers bikes command the most dosh. And these are the bikes that the folks with dosh are prepared to pay £8000 for. Mental? yes....I could not give a shit where the bike came from or if its numbers didn't match. But to ask nearly nine thousand pounds for that is a piss take. Its a £3k bike. Its just another speculator trying their luck. .....but at least do it with a minter!!! Russ puss.....they got a good deal on your 400C I've missed out on a couple of imported 350s as they are often in better nick and haven't been overly bodged and are cheaper to boot! This sort of 400 can be picked up in Canada for sub £1.5k and it will cost £600 to ship (I know a bike exporter

Ok, so obviously an imported bike with matching numbers and in better nick than an uk bike should be worth the same value maybe? if all import duty and nova procedure has all been sorted and full uk log book with tax and m.o.t... Still confused as how that totally f**ks the value of imports? Yes the rd400 is over priced as most can obviously see. I have a few grey import vehicles and they still hold there value and in loads better condition as not seen any salt on the roads and value them the same if not more than rusty bodged up types in this country.

That model has a different tank too. That was mine when I went to the German 2t rally.

The difference in import "values" seems to be a malaise only really suffered by RDs. Its strange, import H2s are just as sought after as a UK H2, with nowhere near the gap in RD values. It is strange but it is a fact. And I would think that something like 25% less for an import will seriously damage any profit. If you don't like "f**ks the value" insert "severely lessens the value" Just be glad of the fact, as import RDs are far better value for money, see museumman's bikes that he sometimes has for sale on this forum.

No blue RD400 in Canada and they all came with KM/H meters. $1500. CAD is what I pay for a nice bike .

Should have kept me 400 DX ,sold it for about £300! Don't get me started on what I sold my 400F for when we emigrated in 2005 and then just to rub salt into the wound, it was a main feature bike in CMM a couple of years back! 😢 Still don't know why I sold it but at least I now finally have a 400E project to get stuck into. 😄

Being a C model limits its value, most people want an E/F thats what there paying for. Good E/F's are now fetching very serious money where as you can still pick up a very good C or D for under 4K

Gotta say, every time I see an astronomical price I think: "so what 3 year old trick modern bike could I get for that money, and how good (really) is the old stroker they are trying to sell!?" Also: "is this a case of someone greedy, fishing for the one victim willing to blow a big chunk of cash on the back of a craze?"
I'm not committing heresy here, it's my way of just keeping my feet on the ground, and retaining some perspective.

Yamrider, agree with you generally, sometimes its foresight, sometimes its a gamble, sometimes its a random punt. I think the classic bike thing was a bit more predictable but I'm amazed how high some bikes seem to have gone, and you've got to able to separate that cash at the time, not always easy with jobs, kids, mortgages, wives! I'm surprised just how high some of these prices go. They could also drop if the economy takes a rumble and all the jobs go away etc. We know that can happen
