Well after confidently swearing that it was only going to be 2-strokes for me from here on, I have to confess to having gone and bought myself another 4-stroke.
I simply couldn't pass up the chance to snap up a 1975 CB400-4 from a lovely retired gent, who had put it into storage in 1988. I will post some pics as soon as I get a chance but to say it is like a time capsule would be something of an understatement. Hopefully it should only take a decent recommissioning before I can see it they are as nice a ride as people say.
So now I have a bike from every major Japanese factory, perhaps it is time to stop collecting?
As if......😉

Kostas they are but a Suzuki (is that like swearing on this site) GT380 is also a lovely bike to cruise round on, lovely and smooth and just a lovely bike to ride and the bonus of not going to the diesel dark side !!! ( I am a hypocrite as my garage contains two four strokes ! apologies )

No offence taken mate, I already have an X7 to scratch my 'blue S' itch but would consider a GT550B instead if one came up for sensible money, as the 380 is a little underpowered for the weight is has to lug around imo.
I will be collecting the 400-4 next Thurs and can't wait to get started on it, so will post some pics soon.

Yes the 380 is certainly not a fast bike but just one of the nicest things I have ever ridden, I would love one to add to my stable (not enough room or money at the moment), I thought the 550 (L model if I remember right) of a mates that I rode a few times was much faster than the 380 but also felt a bigger heavier bike

Well as I definitely fit the 'bigger/heavier' rider profile, it sounds like the 550 would suit me a bit better..... 😉
To be honest, I have more than enough projects to keep me busy for some years (I keep hoping to win the lottery so I can give up work and spend every day in the workshop!) but you have to grab these sorts of opportunities when they come up, or you end up kicking yourself for ever more.
The plan with this one is just to sort out any obvious issues and then run it unrestored, so fingers crossed that is how it will work out, as I want to start the X7 resto come the new year and trying to do two bikes at one time is never a good idea in my experience.

Well I am more of a racers stature (5ft 8 and between 11.5 and 12 stone) so the lightweights suit me,
I agree with the lottery wish, I would love to retire and spend the rest of my time in the garage working on restos and modifying two stroke classics, I would also like a 400 4 but would also like another 100 bikes adding to my small collection but that isn't happening until I become a billionaire

Yeah I know what you mean Ozzy, so many bikes, so little money! Still on the plus side, and as I keep telling the other half, they are better than money in the bank at the moment, even if I have no intention of ever selling them! 😀
We all have to remember that we are just custodians of these machines and will eventually have to pass them on to someone else but in the meantime, don't forget to ride 'em like you stole 'em! 😜

Apologies for the tardiness but I am now able to post an image of my most recent acquisition, which as you can see is in pretty good shape. Hopefully I will be able to get it back on the road sometime in 2017, although as I am already committed to another project, juggling the finances is likely to be something of a challenge!
Hope you like it as much as I do.

Nice, it looks the perfect project, I like em with the engine either in trouble or stripped, it is always better if you build the engine yourself so that you know it is perfect,
I must try and save more pennies and convince her indoors that we do not need a washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer in my garage !

Nice, what alloys are they that it came with? Hi peacey, I was told by the seller that the alloys are a genuine Honda accessory that were purchased from a dealer but never fitted. I am still undecided about whether to use them as yet but as the resto won't start for a few months, there is no rush on that. If I stay standard, I may list them on Gumtree to help pay for the work that it needs. Rgds Ozhammer

That is loverly, always had a soft spot for the 400/4 hope you get her back on the road where she belongs and the bike looks to be largely complete. Does it still have the standard exhausts?

Cheers unrealedd, unfortunately the exhaust wasn't quite as good as the images made it look (how often does that happen? ), so I am currently looking at the David Silver Spares reproduction exhaust, as that is as close to the (unobtainable) original system as you can get at the moment.
Other than that, it is in pretty good shape, so will hopefully be a fairly straightforward restoration.
