Finally picked up the N1 today Although I'm gonna restore it I thought I'd see what I'm up against first I found that the cdi was missing along with the temp sender, carbs balance pipe, self cancelling unit and carbs retaining clips It got me wondering what state the engine and electrics were in I borrowed the cdi from my F1 build, fitted the other missing parts along with an aux petrol tank Then set about trying to fire it up Happy to say after about 50 kicks it burst into life and all the electrics seem to work It's misfiring a bit on the right side but sweet when firing it sounds ok Here's a pic of it on eBay Here's a pic of it running Although the seat will be replaced in red,I had to remove them hideous Yamahas I've already sent an N1 body kit to Cordwells so won't have to wait for it like usual Cheer Matt Looks SWEET. Cheers mate it will look a whole lot better when it's finished Matt

Hi mate There old parts degreased, buffed on a wire wheel and replated Matt I wish mine were good enough to clean up sadly every other nut bolt was seized up rusty and rotten every other bolt had to come out with a not so easy out. I think if wire brushed them out of the vinegar bath I would loose 2mm on the sides of each one ! Gotta say your bikes gonna be looking good with all the new bling. Good luck with the build good thread to follow !

Crank cases still not back from vapour blaster I've had to bite the bullet today and do a couple of jobs I've been avoiding Forks rebuilt and what a ball aching job, just need decals(sent wrong ones) Even worse was stripping ,cleaning, polishing, masking and spraying the wheels I couldn't bring myself to do both,I'll save the rear for next time I feel suicidal Matt

What's your recommended oven temp and time? Hi Mark Thanks as always for your kind comments Cooking wise I find warming the parts in the oven at 50c whilst warming the spray in hot water(not boiling) Then spray and leave for an hour Finally I put them in the oven for 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour at 50c then turn it off and leave them in there overnight Seems to work fine,I've tried hotter but it sometimes messes the paint up Atb Matt

Thats looking very smart Matt, should be doing the same soon. Are your cylinders and top case painted in Simoniz Touch Black or Case Enamel? (And maybe head?) Cheers Nij

Ok thanks A little confused which Simoniz to use, Tough black and Engine enamel both ok for 150deg C and solvent resistant. Are they any different? Cheers Nij
