Been off this week so got busy Found a decent electroplaters who does anything you can get in a bucket for £20 Found a decent aqua blasters who did my whole engine including clutch side casing for £65 Bit of hassle with the frame though being plasticoted Took the blaster 3 hours to strip which cost me £120 only to see the side stand held on by seagull shit 2 hours of cutting and welding and jobs a good un Painter wanted £250 to spray it and I didn't want it powder coated cos it's too orange So I had the tank scanned and 3 cans of 2k made up to suit Well happy with the result Bought some olive drab passivate so got something to get on with while waiting on engine parts Matt

Good progress there Matt
Know what you mean about the frame colour. RS paints has both the early and the later red frame listed as "Fire red" but I've done a sub 4000 mile late Lc2 which was near Ral 3020 but the early one looks lighter so getting it done in Ral 3000 which is more orangey but is "Fire Extinguisher Red"
Will see how it turns out.
You struck lucky with the engine blasting but ouch on the frame. Had one like that, took 24 hours in a strip tank to soften it.
Steve

Steve Cheers Steve The paint shop said fire red was a 3 stage paint using a white base coat They scanned the tank and came up with a Peugeot colour that looks spot on Should be getting the plated parts back tomorrow done in a drum as you said £20 a bucket sounds good value and a lot of the bike shops use them so fingers crossed Matt

Stripped the forks and pegs today but it's give me a dilemma I'm going for a top drawer restore Do I get them anodised for a longer lasting more durable finish. Or keep them as Yamaha intended, remember the forks on this model are black Matt

Fantastic Matt, I think when you start rebuilding and everything looks new (and is new in this case), it's much easier to keep up that standard. Already looking better than when it came off Yamahas production line.
Great work
