Always found the green house to be a good place for spraying bits, slightest bit of sunshine and its lovely and warm..
Any chance you can speed things up a bit, itching to see the finished project..

Just caught up with the build, looking very good. You've put some hours in and I dare say a few more to come ! Are you doing anything to the engine to make it quicker ? Back in the day a mate ran TS185 pistons in his X7 LC250 carbs K&Ns Boysen reeds microns a little bit of fetttiling with the ports and it was canny quick.

It's got mick abbey tuned barrels and some 1 off exhausts, I've got some Ts pistons but want it reliable as although it's for show, it will be ridden there, watch this space as I'm nipping to see the dyno guy tomorrow, show more than go, happy with 35+ to be honest.

Do you guys mean TS125 pistons ?. My current X7 is Stan Stephens tuned (some time ago) with TS125 (+1.00mm) Pistons, Split head (for individual squish) and RG250 Flatslides etc. etc. The TS125 pistons are slightly larger than the X7's (the TS runs a shorter stroke to give the same cc with larger pistons) and gives I think around 270cc in the X7. If they are setup properly (ports, squish and jetting etc.), they don't eat pistons ?, why would they ?.

Took the guards off my grinder too and the table saw...much more versatile now. Brilliant thread , inspired to go chop something up now..on second thought I'd better to weld first..

undertray taking shape on Bri's home made bending machine. undertray mounted with mounts tigged up and nuts also welded on top of mudguard/numberplate holder finished pod mounts sorted tomorrow will be frame strengthening and making nice before it goes for blast and powdercoat.

Having stripped the bike to sort out the frame, airbox tags added and undertray made, it became clear that the comedy "awooga" horn wasn't going to fit anywhere, so beers and head scratching followed, mocked up engine in frame with carbs and began to butcher the horn and airbox a bit more. So there you have it, all the mocking done, think my pal Bri wants to put 1 more strengthening bar in where the rear shock goes then it's a bit more tidying before ken gets it.

last bar in and frame fettled ready for powder. stripped swinger and last bloody bolt sheared, had to grind some alloy back to weld a nut on to try and get it out, no luck so drilled it out and Heli coiled it and new stainless bolts bought, will smarten the mess up before powder. seat gone off for embroidery in keeping with the theme.

whilst the other half was out in the dishwasher the oil tank went then a new sight glass and seal was fitted. box of NOS turned up to help with the build. fork legs skimmed to get rid of some nasty marks and to allow powder, not sure how thick powder is so hopefully enough off to allow them to be snug when fitted.
