Hi all, you can usually find me lurking in the LC section but ebay got the better of me and yesterday and ended up parting with some cash for a "T reg" RD250f , quite tidy with a sweet engine and in need of a light restoration, LC has taken me three and a half years so far and will probably take another few to finish so bought the 250F to do in between doing the lc as I finished off an XL500 last month. First on the list of jobs to do is source a nice clean white tank with red decals on it if anyone has one lurking about they might want to part with. I'm sure I'll find plenty of other things that need doing and will no doubt be seeking advice on various issues I find, can't be that different to the lc surely !!
Cheers
Spooch

Hi Great bikes I have had loads over the years - probably 7 or 8 in all. Simple engines to work on - bonus not having the water cooling system we are used to with Lc's. Obviously a lot more metal parts - seat pan, mudguards, chainguard etc, so it can seem years apart from an Lc, but jump on and ride and you'll love it !! Enjoy Dusty

Welcome. I am just restoring one and they are good to do, lots of parts availble. Brought a load of bits off Norbo and also some from yambits. Try and buy genuine where you can you will be suprised how many bits are still available new.
Tanks in decent condition are rare, if yours isnt leaking and is clean inside I would go with that if not RD James on ebay is a good bet as he breaks them

Thanks for the advice on genuine parts, always try to use genuine where possible. Cheers Paul

It wont cost you much to get yours painted as its very simple design. You will pay at least £150-200 for a good second hand tank and the paint work will be a lottery. You should be able to get yours done for about the same

You should be able to get yours done for about the same I've been quoted £200 plus decals for all parts to be resprayed (seen the guys work and is excellent ) but really wanted to keep it original if at all possible. We'll see what transpires over the next week or so and take it from there. If I got the tank etc resprayed then I would have to have a closer look at the frame etc but that is quite tidy for its age. We'll see.

I can see your point just remember that white ages badly so you may find the tank you buy won't match the rest of yours very well. Post some pics of the bike up people always like to see them ?
