Ok so, today me good ole mucka Errol got the wiring loom on properly and tidily and all connected. We now have clocks, front and rear lights, indicators and front brake light working. Tomorrow I'll get the braided hoses on the front and hopefully bled out. My other good ole mucka red has got these Rearset spacers machine from ally so after a trial fit I'll get them and the rearsets powdercoated then I can get the rest hose on and bled. Getting closer now and can feel a tingling of excitement lol

Got front braided hose on and bled today. I've gone with a Big Bang R1 radial master and 6 pot tokicos the same as on my tl1000r maybe a bit overkill but hey. ... Better too much brake than not enough and I prefer the look of the 6 pots.. Bled out reasonably easily and feels good to me. Got it outside to wash off any brake fluid so threw the bodywork and seat on to take a couple of pics (actually managed to catch the 10 minutes of sunshine too!!!) removed the Rearsets to fill a couple of holes that some bell piece had drilled and hopefully off to the powdercoaters tomorrow. Once they are back I can get the rear master fitted up and bled then I really am just waiting for the engine ( hopefully next week now!!!!) and paint. Getting closer chaps!!! Great progress mate, The hugger is a tricky one, I've got the same problem as I'm using the same rear setup. My vote goes - either leave it off; or send it on a diet and cut it down. I'll see how yours turns out as your a lot further ahead than me I also think the front mudguard on the RGV is a touch bulky. What do you all think?

Thanks chaps. I agree the hugger is too big, I did think about chopping it down, I think I'll do that and get it painted anyway then Ive got the choice. Hard to tell about the front mudguard as its a different colour to the rest. Once it's painted all the same it'll be different but then, of course, too late !!?? I've found a plastic fabrication place just found the corner from my work, I was chatting to the big cheese from there and he says they can make pretty much anything. Hhhmmmmm, undertray, hugger mods??! I'll look into it

Thanks mate. That looks 100 times better and good idea to paint it black. I was gonna paint it the same colour as the bodywork but seeing yours it's better to not see it as much. So it's there to serve a purpose rather than being a feature.

Just got a couple more bits chrome powdercoated today. Rear grabrail and steering damper bracket I got from norbo (thanks again!!) Grabrail came out real nice. Wasn't sure as it was originally chrome but the finish is perfect. Also dropped bodywork to the painters today. Was gonna get it painted, apply vinyls stickers then lacquer over the top. After leaving it there I was thinking what was involved in this process so I contacted a guy i'd messaged before regarding paint etc and I'm gonna send it all to him so he can actually paint the decals on. Much better methinks.

Well, been a it stuck as of late, I can't believe how difficult this is!!! I still can't decide on colour/paint. I've been through about 100 ideas in my mind but can't visualise any, I even rattle canned half the tank and one side panel to see how it looked. I was all ready to send it off and get it done in my original idea but stopped as I still wasn't 100%. So, for now, I'm just gonna spray it all black (smoothrite do we reckon??) get engine back, use it for the summer, decide and then get it all done properly over next winter. Will save time and money and hopefully can bloody decide!!! The painter I was gonna use says 5 weeks, that would be going into the middle of June and would already be half way through summer. Plus this should allow a pair of bespoke exhausts hhhmmmmm!!! Should be speaking to engine builder tomorrow to find out the crack so I'll update then. Cheers ian

Took the tank to the wheel refurbishers today and got it sandblasted. Made sure it wasn't too aggressive for it and the guy told me he'd do it slowly?? So a 25 year old rusted/flaking paint job with a couple of coats of rattle can trials over the top by myself ended up coming back like this. Much better than I expected. So this is what I have so far Blasted tank, roughly smoothrited side panels, tail piece, Rgv front mudguard and, now, chopped down hugger. Black smoothrite over next couple of days. Still waiting for news on engine.

Thanks mate, nice one. I quite like it but there's a lot of black bikes out there. I think I may have decided on another colour but I'll see, it's only a temporary thing till I can actually bloody decide. I've got a small problem with the seat, the back of it sticks up a bit from the tail piece, anyone had this problem and any remedies for it? Thanks ian

Not really much to report, waiting for the engine pretty much now. Got the hugger but down and sand blasted (gently) and it's come back really nice. Didn't really know you could sandblast plastic till I got my tank done and he blasted the tank cap. Here's how it came back from the blasters. Got a chain to go on when I get the engine back. Still got my ledar pipes I may be able to use to get going till I can get a set made up. COME ON ENGINE!!!!

Well, you've guessed it l!! Still waiting for news on the engine. Got these today as I'm after the minimlist look. Can get them on then that really is it. When the engines back and in I can get the chain and battery on then take the whole bike back to the engine builder to finish off the mountings for the stainless pipes he's making.
