Thanks, not too sure yet Matt. Purple was my favourite colour back in the day I'll have you know. Keeping it along the same lines I may visit some other musical talents for some inspiration. Might go yellow (Coldplay) or maybe gold (spandau ballet) thought about a bit of David Essex silver dream machine, Zz top brown sugar or maybe a bit of Tom Jones green green grass.......... Aside from all that I think I have decided but keep changing my bloody mind so I'm just gonna do it and see what appens!!!! I was gonna try and get on a photoshop thing to design some paint schemes/ideas. I'm crap at visualising that's the problem....

Thanks my man. I've got my idea but I'm gonna keep it under wraps till it's actually done. Want it to be a surprise for everyone (plus don't want anyone copying it lol). Different and original but with a classic theme. Watch this space mwaaaahhhhh hhaaaahhaaaaaa

With all those potential colours in mind, Have you thought about painting it harlequin colours?
Why don't you get the rear set spacers made out of aluminium?
Jon

Hi Jon, I was just feckin about, I'm fairly sure I've decided what colour I'm goin with. Ally would be better but the bloke doing them owes me a favour and they only work with steel so I cant complain (it's free) Lcyoungboy, thanks. Clear lens from norbo, led bulb off eBay. I've got no power yet but it should work 100% as its a direct replacement for a 380 bulb (double filament) LEDs are the way forward plus there's no nasty redness seen through the lens. Got the chemical metal sanded down and smoothrited today so all the front end can go back on. Headlamp brackets have arrived so just deciding what headlamp to go for. I've got a feeling it's gonna be some kind of led business goin on!!!

Also noticed something a bit wonky on the back end so I'm gonna take off the panel to see if it's that, the subframe or the inner tray I've chopped and moved forward. I am a self confessed perfectionist and I like everything to be as perfect as possible. Can you spot my tiny indicators? ? And oh yeah I got the call today to say that my seat is done and on its way back to me. Whoop whoop!!!!!

Found the rear subframe was slightly off skew so gave it a twist and bolted everything back on and all seems well. Might need a slight tweak when all finished but a lot better. Also this arrived today. Truly stunning!!! Very happy!!!

Hi there can I ask you about there clear rear light with the led lamp will it light up your number plate as i had one on mine and the cops nicked me for it also it won't pass mot

Post by Slabsideian on Mar 17, 2016 23:04:10 GMT 1
The led bulb has leds all around it so it should illuminate the number plate (albeit in red lol). If it doesn't you can but tiny LEDs or number plate bolts with LEDs incorporated for that purpose. Number plate lights are not an mot requirement on bikes so don't worry about that but are a legal requirement. (I know as I am a car and bike tester) I hadn't actually thought about this properly till you asked this question!! (Good job I don't care innit? Lol)

Thanks yogi I've pm'd you the details. So the chemical metal didn't work on the lock stops so I tried quicksteel. That didn't work either. They both just fell off on the first turn of the bars. Removed all that and migged the centre of a nut in place then filled around it with quicksteel. Blew it all over with, yep you've guessed it, smoothrite. You'd never know the difference now. Good job!! Got the front end all fitted back up with headlamp brackets and an led headlamp to go on. Will post pics up on Monday

Thanks. Can't remember but just search on eBay for led 501 bulbs. I got a set of around 8 I think for a good price. There's loads of different types but this style seem a better quality. All the best ian

At the start of all this I cleaned the tank out with caustic soda and spirit of salts but it's rusted up inside again. I've iust done it again with spirit of salts and it's looking 100 times better now. Found the instruction online on a classic bike website. The caustic soda removes any old gunk/petrol and the spirit of salts removes the rust. Good n cheap!!!!!! Didn't take a before pic but here's an after one. It was pretty damn rusty in there before

Who done the seat for you it looks great, does it fit ok after being recovered sometimes the base can bend, I can't justify the amount genuine gully seats go for & fancy this done

Thanks, It looks like good. I just clipped it in without the tank rubbers etc on so the pics may make it look not 100% gaps but sure it will be fine. I can pm you the guys details if you want. All best ian

We have power!!! Got the wiring loom on and connected, headlight tested and working so took it back off to do a tidy wiring job. Ally spacers for hangers on the way so once I know they defo fit I can get them powdercoated, on, braided lines on and all brakes bled out. Once the identity and peices are done it's pretty much waiting for engine and paint.

Thanks boysies!!! Yogi, not really excited yet as I worry too much about stoopid things and small details but doing a few bits on it today I was thinking today about the first time I ride it back in 91!!! And again the first ride after rebuilding it back in 92 and am looking forward to it more and more. You know like when you here a song that reminds you of a particular moment in your life? Ahhhhhh those were the days eh? Unrealedd, thanks and errrrmmmmm of course but, luckily I am.... I mean I have a very understanding mot tester. Think I've decided on the paint etc but keeping it under wraps for now. Yamark cheers mate, I bought the clocks back in the day they are all original but obviously not from this bike Check these out lol

Yes mate, I must have bought another/better set of clocks after I smashed it up. In my box of bits I still have the remains of the old clocks. Not exactly full service history with the paperwork but hey! Lol See what I paid for it back then? If only I'd kept my mk1 escort!!!! Hindsight??!!! !! Never mind I'm sooooooo glad I kept this
