I voted a while back lol. I did love the SS50, and the RD too. In fact nearly all of them...

I loved the SS too, and the XT drew my attention (as I've got a '76 500D in my garage as well as the 31K), but there's only one winner as far as I can see.....

The specials are all great, but honestly speaking, the 550 makes the others look lame. Really hope she wins. I totally agree, it's in another class to those other bikes really, from what I can see, adding an extra cylinder puts it ahead in just an 'engineering' sense.

I think one of the main problems in the article is that there is nowhere near enough info / pictures to show the amount of work and quality of workmanship done on any of the bikes.
We all know from this thread the manhours, attention to detail and quality that has gone into this build
I’m sure that the others have similar story - but in my view those cannot have been as difficult as this build, and produce such a “factory” finish.
Just my 2p worth.

Hold your breath guys as there are plans for ypvs multis in the pipeline . My own ypvs 3 cylinder will be the development mule for 2 ypvs 4-cylinder motors. They will be more difficult due to offset stud spacing but will be future proof.mine will be non powervalve banshee cylindered but using valves won't be an issue paired to an ignited controller. I remember i met a guy with an aircooled rd700 in the lakedistrict. Absolute awsome to do a rd700lc👍

Just wanted to add I did vote for Mark's bike, no option as it a is a quantum leap over all the others, just I do have a soft spot for the SS50, was my first ever bike aged 16, with (ahem) a C70 head and barrel lol.

Cheers to all of you voting. The "Mad one" goes up to Peterborough this Friday (18th May) to the MCN Festival. The show will be held on Saturday/Sunday 19th-20th May at the East of England Arena, £15 entry.
MCN and Practical Sportsbikes have already sent me 2 weekend passes and a parking permit. Paul (my son) and I will be there all weekend, so anyone going to the show - please say hello. I think Dusty and Mouse are coming up for the show.

Congratulations Mark, and also a big well done from our other member Bazzer. Just goes to show the high standards on this forum if two of our members can reach the top 10!!! That is a good point Tobyjugs. I had a long chat with Bazzer, lovely bloke and the work put into his and Marks bikes is quite amazing. The bikes are almost victims of their own success, by that i mean that they are so well done and so well thought out that you miss half of the details because it just looks so right/meant to be. The two bikes are very different but equally stunning, because Mark's has a stock paintjob, i still have to tell myself that it is anything but everytime i see it! Both bikes are utterly fantastic and need to be seen in the flesh to fully appreciate and as Tobyjugs says to have two bikes from one forum in the top ten of a nationwide competition, speaks for itself! Thanks chaps - it's still not sunk in yet. A huge thank you to Dusty (and Mouse) for making the trip to the show, and Dusty's great photos.
In the third photo to the right of me is Jim Moore (editor of Practical Sportsbikes), to the left of me, is Freddie Spencer and then the gentleman in black is from Venhill and puts up the prize money. To the right of the bike is my son Paul who has been with me every step of the triple build. The next 2 people (to the right of Paul) are John Kavanagh and his "good lady". John built the Z650 and did the paintwork himself. To say we "clicked" is an understatement. John can be contacted on 07493 184964 for all your paintwork needs.
As said already, Barry's bike was superb; the photo's do not do it justice.
A great result for the Forum, and once again thank you all for your kind words, and for voting. I'll post up the 2 pictures I took later.
Cheers, Mark

I'm sure you would have won the competition even without the votes cast for you from forum members. Best build from the shortlist by a long way. Well done Mark

Well done Mark Cheers Mark, I had about 25% more votes than 2nd place - the Suzuki turbo was 2nd. I was told the voting was very close and that I edged ahead in the last few hours.

It was nice to see Freddie Spencer was genuinely interested in the bike, and great that he "did the honours" with the giant cheque Jim Moore is a lovely fella, and a real Lc fan, and I 'm sure he was pleased to see the Lc win. I had asked him earlier in the day which was his favourite, and the triple was his choice. And Bazzer's 421 is a stunning bike in it's own right. Certainly a bike I would love to have in my garage Dusty
