Afternoon chaps ..... Christ, I didn't expect this to be so hard! Just been to Halfords to buy some new coolant for the '99 R6. ''Bottle of neat ethylene glycol based coolant to mix 50/50 with dist water please.'' Silicate or silicate free (OAT) was the choice. Was told that I must need the silicate stuff, as silicate free only came out in year 2000, and bike is 1999. Use that, don't put in silicate free 'cos will mix with the old residue and cause waxy build-ups. Got home, quick Google search, people saying avoid silicate stuff etc. causes gaskets/ seals to leak. Ahhhh!! So my question to you is.... Does any of you have an answer one way or the other? Cheers, 67kev.
