Dont really want to go down the road of fitting pods and possibly loosing some bottom end.
Does drilling an airbox and removing the snorkel make much difference?
Ive just fitted some chambers hence the reason for this.......

I have tryed removing the snorkel befor and the bike would'nt pull at all it was aurfull . try removing the air filtey from the box and see what that does. Drilling can help but often you can't realy tell any improvement unless you bike is very tuned. And i see many boxes with tape over the holls, witch tells me that people have tryed it and then found it was better bofer and taped them up agine.

Thanks Norbo K&n's are really expensive here,I will try it without the snorkel first, then drill the top out.

Hey Munch, I know this ain't anything to do with this thread but I am really sorry to hear about Steve Irwin He was a good bloke and you should be proud that he was an Aussie. A great entertainer and passionate about his work, he will be missed.

MMM I don't think I will drill holes in the side as that would bring it below the filter line, then there would be not much point running a filter. Ive got to run a filter It can get dusty here,so the alternatives are remove snorkel, and drill top.
Yep Steve was a good bloke a little bit crazy, and yes passoniate about wildlife,In times when the developers want to carve up our bush and build crap houses it was good to know that the wildlife of Oz had a voice!!!!!!!!

Cant you get S&B filters over there? Got them on mine and the induction noise is lovely. They look like K&N's but are much cheaper.

Can you get hold of Ram-Air filters Munch? I use them on my aircooled RD with reed block spacers to improve the bottom/mid range with expansions & they work a treat. Good steady dyno curve like that. I wouldn't use K&N's as they don't let the air in from all directions with having the chrome end cap on them which I've read would shorten the induction length.

so you found the lid and filter WERE restricting the motor wiz? did you find any problems so far running with no lid?

i knew the inlet was 'opened' up on the 31K compared to the LC...airbox thru to reeds...just wondered if the lid was the main restriction

well...im thinking of trying that tune that i posted up next time i rebuild.I have the head, will check the compression ratio and squish, and im thinking of taking a mill or so off the top of the piston at the exhaust port...not ideal, but just to see if it works ok before i grind the cylinder proper .........I just wondered if the airbox and reeds would be stopping it breathing as well as it should i know lots of people like to fit larger reed cages oh yeah, ive got the 'later' LC carbs, and a spare set of 31K ones

Couple of things: ALL LC/RZ carbs early or late are 26mm Bores. Best of my knowledge RZ/Banshee and TZ Reed assemblies are same size..Banshee uses Fiberglass reeds as OEM though try 'em. IF you want to use modified/cut pistons Vitosperformance.com sells Either Forged OR cast ones in two levels of modification.. cheap too :-)
