Does anyone know whether the europeon rd125lc mk3 full power has the same CDI as the restricted UK rd125lc mk3, as i'm looking to try and set up my mk3 to working powervalve and have all the kit needed, just not sure about the CDI fitted to my bike, as i'm led to believe that even if the CDI fitted to my bike operates the powervalve, i will not be getting the full potential. I have seen a CDI on ebay where the seller is saying that the UK 125lc mk3 had a different CDI to the europeon one. The CDI on ebay has the code: 1GU-MO 50302. I have taken some pics of my CDI however some of the code has faded, so looking for some help of you lads before i go and purchase another one. The beggining of my CDI says: 1GU - then i cant make out anymore. Thanks Scott

I'd put money on the fact that the de-restricted full power LC will almost certainly have a different CDI unit to the U.K. one..............save your money

well.... i have the import dt125lc mk3 with full working power valve. when i got it and put it in my 80 i could not get it to start, so after much thinking/deduction i worked out that the cdi was faulty. i ordered from a breaker a uk mk3 cdi which was all he had and put that on and guess what it worked! the p/v does its start up turns and when its running it works fine. there is a lot of talk on rd125lc forum about which things make the euro ones work and which don't, due to my experience i think that you need a euro wiring loom and control box and servo, the cdi does not matter (in my case it didn't anyway).
just checked the fiches for both and; rd125lc cdi = 1GU-85540-MO comp box = 1GU-85830-MO dt125lc cdi = 34X-85546-MO comp box = 57U-85825-MO
don't know if this helps but check out the rd125lc forum they have loads of threads on the subject (some of mine in there too).
there are a few guys on there with import models for which you can check the parts with. thanks Jamie.

They will run with a uk loom as all the blocks are there for it to work you should just be able to plug it in and go. depending on what controle box you have you may have to chop the wires a bit to get it t i work right but i do know they will and you dont have to chainge the loom.
I have been toled that when they do work with out a bush on the cable side you get a lot of oil coming out so a bush will need to be bade with an O ring. I think one from a ypvs could be modered to do the job .

Norbo, I know where you are coming from with the leak as it happened with mine, however should there be a special powervalve seal on the housing end to prevent the leak?, it does not show the seal in the haynes manual, however i have ordered one to find out. If it doesnt work i will have a groove machined in and fit a o- ring.
