there will be no rd lc parts on this bike at all so if you dont want me to post the thread on here just say .lol i have thought long and hard about this ,and want to build an aprilia rs 500 using an rs250 aprilia frame and swingarm ect and a 500 cc v-twin two stroke engine something like a bimota v-due engine i want it road registerd and ready before cadwell classic trackday the budget is very small and ive a kr1s i need to do before i start this winter/spring/most of summer build i know 2 of these are being built in italy at the moment and i have been following there progress ! any thought or ideas are welcome .
and pm me if you have an old v-due engine or aprilia rs250 chassis in the shed some where or know of one ?

Thought I had a V-Due engine kicking about in the shed but it turned out to be an old Vincent black shadow engine, so I took it to the scrappys - well you get loads for ali these days

Interesting project and do like stuff that's different - however isn't the v due engine fairly poor as a power plant? I mean from a scarcity/parts/price vs power point of view? I know they can be fixed to actually run but they weren't all that great when actually running were they? Unless I'm misinformed of course which wouldn't be the first time.
Look forward to seeing this project get legs

the injection ones were crap the first carb ones were crap they ran bad and siezed but a bloke called piero bought everything when they went bankrupt if over 90 plus torque and 135 bhp is crap then i like crap ! he has been developing the engines ever since ,he carries a full spares package for engines no more bikes will be sold ,he was still selling new ones this year engines complete are 7500 euro 130 bhp many people run these engines on the vdue forum ,3rd gear wheelies at 100 plus mph and that's the 120 engine ive been on one a few times thats why i want one but i aint wanting to spend 15k on one

After all if an rg500 motor would set you back about 4k then it seems to make a bit of sense. I've always lusted for a vdue if not just for its cool factor. Look forward to seeing the development.

ive got a good bit of a bottom end sorry about the pics ,quality is poor bottom end is clean and shiny ,just looks bad in the pics
got most of the clutch in a box found out got wrong rotor and a race flywheel worth some money but need new propper road ones and a new stator
since the pics ive bought starter motor ,clutch slave ,alternator also spent a fortune in italy with piero the v-due man on 2 new complete top ends ,barrels heads ,powervalves piston kits ,gaskets o-rings ect aprilia rs 250 frame and swingarm is in the garage ,as is front end and rs250 rear wheel just waiting for the parts to come ,then next lot will have front sprocket stuff there so i /we can get it mounted in the frame . im hoping engine should be complete by new year ish the only 2 stroke 500 v2 as far as i know are honda nsr500 v2 and aprilia 500v2 one for sale here 140 hp so not much more ! but 150,000 quid , makes a v-due look worth the £15,000 www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/haradas-500cc-gp-aprilia-for-sale/1435.html

been a bit worrid about sorting the wiring on this its getting a pickup for timing thats been a problem anyway been put onto a nice german today who sells a rotor for 68 euro's that works with a zeel 24v box ,so if it works with that it should work with an ignitech as well so its more doable now !

Be nice to see a Bimota engine being used on the road as most of the V-Dues will probably never see the light of day due to their value. (This is not a dig at any of the forum members that may have a V-Due tucked away in their house )

(This is not a dig at any of the forum members that may have a V-Due tucked away in their house ) they are a strange lot these bimota /v-due owners give them hell , you can tell they are wierd ,norbo has one ! im lucky enough to have been on one a few times , my mate who i ride about with has 2, one injection one with 0 miles in the conny and a carb'd race trofero with a day time mot ive not that type of money ! my only chance of a 500 unless i sell a couple of race rep 250's . but that wont happen

I get where they are coming from and using it would destroy the collectible value but I would be torn with keeping it new or riding it! I don't have that kind of money either so am unlikely to get the choice, as I think I would defiantly have to ride it! I'm helping a mate restore/rebuild a RD500 at the moment but it wont be a show queen resigned to the living room -I know he will be riding it (and so will I given any chance). Looking forward to seeing your 500 build though.

6000 euro = £4721
At that price, it's a relative snip! And I imagine they are fairly well sorted now.

it is cheap ste other 500 v twin 2 strokes are 10 to 15 k and now i know there is a company that make the parts so that i can use a zeel or ignitech thats a big plus yes they have them pretty much sorted now ,they still go through plugs quickly but just carry a couple of spares and a box of 10 is only 25 quid loads of vids on you tube ,but find a new one to show what a sorted one goes like it was 16 years ago they were first released
