hi chaps ive just aquired a big bore kit ;D its been used but ive noticed that the rings are quite skinny for want of a better word well they dont look man enough for the job ???so im wandering is it worth getting it rebored and maybe a ts 250 piston fitted as this would have a meaty pair of rings what do you lot think

would thicker rings cause more friction, hence wear down the bore more??.

also guys ive noticed that the sleeve isnt central i would say its 3mm out sideways will this make any difference to performance, plus looking up the exhaust port i can see the liner looks like it needs a good 5mm taken off of it to make it the same size as the casting , i think stevie wonder put it in.

i would think that if its off to one side then thats going to put a throw on your conrod(pulling it to one side)that would prob sh*g the big end . there being only a couple of thou play at the big end not 3mm.

if you do open the ports out and it is that far of. i would check where the end of the rings meet in relation to the ports first cos you wouldnt want one end jamming in the port.

thin rings (wot) are for comp use ,reduces friccion whitch =more power, higher revs, but wear out quicker .leave your ring alone !!!!fnar fnar
