What gearbox recall has the MT09 got to have ?. I hope it's not like the 2014/15 R1's which have all their owners spitting feathers ?. Imagine spending £20k+ on a new bike that's been built to perfection at Yamaha, then have to take it to your local Yamaha dealer to have the engine taken out and completely stripped to change gears in the gearbox . They aren't stacked rear gearboxes like some earlier R1 models, so it's a complete engine strip. Most dealers can't even change a tyre without damaging the rim, let alone doing all that work to a brand new £20k+ bike

I thouhgt it was just the r1 that had the recalls for gearboxs, i asked about any recalls on my mt09 on thursday and they said there havent been any, like you said i wouldnt have bike back if needed engine strip as even menial tasks seem hard for them, apparently these are the codes for recalls on mt09 and super tenere, luckily im ok RN296######0009355 to RN296######0010782 RN29F#####0001080 to RN29F######0002551 RN291######0004601 to RN291######0005001 DP041######0001239 to DP041######0001293 DP046######0001835 to DP046######0001873 RJ155######0008385 to RJ155######0008482 Read more: www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/recall-yamaha-mt-09-r6-and-super-tenere/26517.html#ixzz43RBIbdK1

Glad it isn't the same as the problem with R1, my friend is in process of taking j&s to court to get his money back for his R1 M1 he has refused to let them repair it, reckons they don't have a bench in workshop big enough to strip engine on!

Is it still a partial engine strip though or more of a sump off job, still wouldnt let them do mine though

I would have thought it would be a case of taking off gear lever, taking right hand side engine cover off, possibly removing clutch, sliding out gear selector shaft and reassemble with new gasket and fresh oil. Hopefully nothing much to worry about I've just posted on the mt09 forum asking if anyone has had theirs done
