So as you have seen from my re-build thread, I have my hands full and should have plenty to be getting on with. However, with realising that I need many parts and wanting to update the LC but in doing so make the mods subtle, I have been pondering over some items. Front end... Lots of LC's have gone down the usd fork route (and look really cool btw) but I want rwu ones with more modern feel but easily mistakeable for standard ones. I have had a few ideas but thoughts lead me down one particular route and as of next month I will be owning this..... plus lots of spares...... And I have a spare 350 lump....... Oh dear, oh dear!

These are great fun mate, I've got a standard one and nearly 2 others, one with a thundercat engine and one in bits which I'd considered putting a spare YPVS engine in. I to don't really have the time at the moment but couldn't help myself. Good luck with it whatever you decide.

Quality Alibongo, I looked at that FZR on eBay, but with too many bikes already and all needing something or other doing from full rebuild to a simple oil change I thought I'd never get around to doing anything with it, which would be a shame as it has a lot of potential for either a 350 YPVS project or a Thundercat engine! Keep us posted on this project as well. You'll be a busy man?

Or do I give my spare 350 to someone who can turn it into one of those 475 beasts and then throw it in the rolling chassis? Hmmmmm.

That is a proper tidy FZR Baz, nice one.
A question for you on the engine swap, is it a major issue with the chain run or a fairly easy job to put in?

Thanks Alibongo, The FZR600 or Thundercat engine goes straight in. A company up north called projection make top engine mounts with easy fitting instructions. They advertise on ebay a lot.Chain alignment is fine on mine. If you go this route there is a good thread on the FZR forum. Good luck mate.

I knew it wouldn't take you long Alibongo to start thinking about 600cc engine transplants into the 3TJ. Imagine the fright everyone would get thinking its a wee 400, when in fact it was a 600cc bike with handling to match? I looked into that and was so close several times, but as aforementioned the project would still be sitting in my garage awaiting a start, like everything else. In fact I haven't had a bike on the road since 2008, due to laziness and procrastination - hence why I have forced myself into starting the Hybrid build. My mate has a 3TJ model and I used it several times, what a great wee bike, he's got an R1, ZX-10, and BMW1000RR but still has the FZR400 too, which is testament to the quality of the FZR. Keep us posted on this bike too, but please don't make it sound too exciting, as I'll be on Gumtree / Ebay looking for one myself?

Wouldnt bother putting a 350 in that, how heavy is it?
Either needs a nutty big bore/stroker or a modern 600

The 350 was just a ponderation as I do have an RGV (VJ21) rolling chassis in the shed that was intended to house that motor. I have had perverted thoughts about finding a Trumpet Speed Triple engine for it and really messing with peoples heads.

Binned this idea as it was loadsa money for a decent Trumpet lump and would have taken lots of work/time that i didnt have. Plus I rebuilt the SV that was burned up as well as buying a tatty R1 to fettle too.
More of that in another thread.
