Cheers, yep this one burns oil too. Not much around town but when you sit at 80+ on a motorway it does a litre every 600 miles or so. Just about all of them do it - EXUPs, Thunderaces, YZF750s. It just seems to be a 5 valve thing, or maybe it thinks it's a two stroke! Still makes good power though, did 129.5 rwhp on Gibsons' dyno a couple of years back

Had the same model in late nineties. One of the gruntiest bikes I have ever ridden. Yours looks very nice.
Have toyed a few times with another as a project.
Up to a litre of oil per 600 miles was the norm.

Yep, YZF750 arm and rear wheel just to be a bit different! Not too bad to fit either, pivot sleeve needed narrowing down and had to trim the battery tray and fit a shorter battery. Also ended up with 600 Bandit dogbones to get the ride height right. YZF ones were too short and EXUP ones were too long. Still uses standard shock and linkage though.

My mate had a '90 (i think) version-(slightly different graphics - no blue on top fairing IIRC?) He cut the half circle webs out of the carb rubbers, then let me thrash it on a nice long straight bit of road (like with all the big bikes he had that i couldn't afford!) Boy that bike was fast, and seemed way more powerful than the '96 Fireblade he had after. Got off it with my heart trying to exit chest :-) When it was four years old, he was giving it some beans up a long shallow hill, that flattened out half way up....it took off, and wrapped itself around a tree. Bad damage, rear wheel broke into five pieces and luckily all he got was a sore shoulder and a broken arm! Still got the photos.... 67kev

Last time I saw him was at Stafford last year. Send him my regards if you see him! Turns out it was still mot'd so all I did was stick some tax on it. Popped out for a spin and took a few pics.

Hi Rich, yes that's him. He sold the 3xv about 3 years ago to me and bought a TDR 250 and more recently a 2ma . He's just finished a stunning 350 lc in standard white with red decals aswell.Cheers Nick.

sure was spent a few saturday afternoons down there pulled one there getting it pitchside I was just down there collecting tickets, Vinny and Cranny spotted it outside and came chatting then I was asked if I'd take it in for pics. A few other players posed on it too. I was asked if I'd take it to the opening of the Brit but I'd already got season tickets and had arranged to go on the lash with the lads, besides the tight gits wouldn't give me a comp ticket for my old man, insisting it would be honour enough to ride it around the pitch and probably be in the following programme.
