Very nice Mate, I still think they are the nicest looking Ducatis and certainly have the power and handling.

It has to be one of the most iconic bikes ever. It's a shame to sell it but I won't use it.

I had an original 916SP the first of the breed. I owned if for 4 years and it was an interesting experience with highs and lows. The highs were great just the look and the sound of the thing was amazing. The lows? the wiring loom burst into flames when a wire chaffed on the seat unit support. Ducati chose in their wisdom not to protect this particular wire with a fuse. Loom had been NLA for years and was particular to an early SP and strada so couldnt find one second hand. In the end I stripped what was left and spliced in sections to replace the damaged wires, Took me many hours of cutting and replacing with the loom spread out on the garage floor working from a old schematic diagram. It became a very expensive ornament in the end, I bought it for 4.5K in 2008 and sold for 8K in 2012 to a rich collector so a nice tidy profit.

I wont even list what my brothers SPS has gone thru in the years he's had it...its in the dealers again at the mo anyway!
That said, if I wanted one, it wouldnt put me off, just need a second bike, reliable bike, like an LC to have alomgside it!

I spend whatever spare time I get on the dirtbikes so not really needed. Building an rgv up now to shift on and two other cr125's 89 evo and 96 super evo for racing. After that I can get back to building my hybrid lc after starting it about 4 years ago!

Hello gpsprint , I don't know if you can help me ? . It's a long story but I've got a set of front discs which look the same as yours . I was told they were off of a SPS Ducati . Looking at pictures on the web , some 916's have discs with just circles as the centre pattern on the disc , and other are like you yours ( and the set that I have got ) , sort of rounded off triangles and circles - if you can understand what I mean ?. Do you have any idea if these discs are worth more second hand when I sell them as 'standard' 916 discs , or are they all the same ? Nice bike buy the way . Thanks Mike .
