Rob from classic bike trackdays rang me last night about the cadwell 80th birthday week end where he will be running two trackdays on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd of August 2014. as of yet they are not taking bookings but, interest is huge and he has agreed to guarantee us as a forum 12 guaranteed places. Norbo will also be taking a large gazebo to put on a show over the week end. If you want to book your place please add your name to this thread and place will have to be paid for on or before Friday 28-2-14. there will be free instruction on track for those that need it and lets face it no one knows everything. Plus ex racers will also be there including Guy Martin plus bands on the Friday and Saturday night.

Deffo up for this again It was the Saturday/Sunday last year, not Friday/Saturday. Do they know what's going on the Sunday ?. And any idea when we'll know what groups/sessions will be running each day ?. It was a great weekend last year but the groups were a little messed up . The 2-stroke group had more VFR400's in it than 2-strokes and the Novices group (which I should've been in on my X7) had all the 2-strokes in it that would've suited my relatively slow X7

both days for me, no idea on group, its been a while since I did a track day an d that was on my MV and Ducati......not quiet the same as on a 2 stroke, if the turbo is ready then it might prove sensible to be in the novices unless I get chance to run it on the road first !

How much was it last year Mick?
I have no idea if I will be able to go in August (depends on what my oncologist says after I'm scanned in May/June) but I may just book it anyway!

It was a slightly painful experience on the track for me last year. I probably do 5-10 track days every year on my GSXR1000 and all at the sharp end of the fast/advanced group. Problem on the X7 was with little ground clearance compared to modern stuff (I ruined my sidestand on the day) and a top speed of 100mph, I was blasted to death on both sides down every straight, then on any occasion I had anyone in front at any corner, they held me up Unless you've got modern 2-stroke performance (or a VFR400 ! lol) you really needed to be in the Novice group whatever your track experience. Be interested to see what groups variations they have this year. I know at the time they said they'd let the VFR crew do a group booking in the 2-stroke group, as they were worried about not filling all the places and loosing money on the cost of hiring the track. Which is sort of fair enough.

there will be five groups this year, novice 2 stroke and 4 stroke intermediate and expert two stroke group intermediate and expert four stroke group plus two more groups that are of no interest to us. I think we are all better in the two stroke intermediate/expert group, my reason for this is that if you go into the novices then as looey says you will get some hero that can a***hole it on the straight but then hold you up in the corners. But if we go into the intermediate/expert group and if you feel you are a novice then go at the back of the group.
