Fibre glass is the best for packing as it is fire retardent, if the longer tubes go into the expansion i can only think that this has been done to reduce noise it would not increase performance as it would restrict the exhaust gasses The performance of a pipe is down to the shape of the down pipes and the chamber and how they remove the exhaust gasses

I read somewhere that the longer baffle tubes are indeed as jacobena says to reduce noise...wish i had the brain and vocabulary to explain exactly how it works, but it is all to do with rebounding sonic waves and shit like that!...apparently extending the tube past the reversed cone does summit to these sound waves all very scientific like...could always just cut em off with a hacksaw...the only real way to see the difference is to run em with and without...wouldnt cost much to get em welded back on...post uplet us know on the new Modification Page!

I allways cut them down when i have a set on a bike they seem to run better with at way. I woud pack them it helps keep them quieter.

is that second slot from the bottom? to make the mixture richer? still running oil pump Owners manual show vm26ss carbs running 240 mains 22.5 pilot but haynes shows 1ua00 running 185 mains and pilot 27.5 for the f11 and fn models which looks like mine is there an easy way to tell the difference without stripping the carbs again

ok pulled the carbs apart 155 mains WOW printed on the side of the carbs 00rr i think thats the only print that seems to mean's sumthing rang the local spare parts yammie dealer still waiting for the call back so if mine is running 155 mains for a 250 that leaves a great deal of improvment to be made ? and its got the bigger pilot jet at 27.5 so my Question is why the big difference in jets like i can understand 155-185 standard between the 250 and the 350 but if standard over there is 220 main jet for a 350 whats the difference ? and how do I set up a base line for jetting

As a bace line you go up 2 jets for chambers and 1 for filters and 1 for tuned barrels.
