Hi Guys. This post serves firstly as an introduction as I haven't posted before, and also as a show and tell on my recently acquired Competition Green 1973 RD350. The bike was in fairly reasonable nick when I got it but I've had the paintwork redone, brakes fettled, disc skimmed and drilled , seat recovered, carbs etc overhauled and numerous new bits supplied by Norbo. As a final touch (for now) I've also fitted Jim Lomas 'retro polished' pipes. Not one for the aficionados I know, but I like the end result. Feel free to flame me but watcha' think?............. Not sure whats next. Maybe rearsets and lower bars would go well? V.

looks gr8 mate its a one, off how does she handle Cheers Kev, Ive really enjoyed the transformation so far. Who knows where it'll all end! The bike handles great, tho some upgraded shocks may be next on the list. It certainly rides better than the old BSA I have from the same era! What I'm really impressed with is the braking, which when compared with the same RD I had in the late '70's is phenomenal!! The original caliper was fettled by RDbitz and the skimming seems to have helped a great deal. The drilling looks the part but would probably only make a difference in the wet, which as I seem to remember was pretty poor back in the day. I'm enjoying the journey with the bike so far. Long may it continue!! V.

Horlicks!! to aficionados it looks great!
My 400Cs front brake was much better than those on my 250F and 400F ( wet braking non existent and you found out what colour adrenaline was)

Couldn't you have a black and silver number plate on that?

Couldn't you have a black and silver number plate on that? By the letter of the law then no, as I think black/silver plates are only legal on vehicles registered before 01/01/'73. This bike is down as being manufactured in 1973. It was actually only first registered in UK this year so not sure how that factors in. Maybe others would know? It will tho be able to be re-registered as an historic vehicle as of next year. With road tax of NIL Ive been taking advantage of the fantastic weather again today to take the RD out for a spin. More gratuitous shots!!............

lovely bike this, if you do decide to upgrade the rear shocks then I recommend hagon shocks, firstly they are in my opinion a great shock and secondly they are british made and are a fantastic company to deal with...
