Hello, I have recently joined the forum when I was trying to trace my wife's old RD350LC, which I successfully did with help from lots of forum members and the owner himself. I thought I would share with you a picture of my current bike. It's a 1974 Norton Commando Interstate MKIIA. It's not the best handling bike going but it makes me smile every time I ride it.

What are the "brakes" like on yours snowy . I bought one when I was 19 (still got it)and the brakes were nearly non existent. When it gets re-commissioned, I'll get the brake m/cly mod done. It's a 1972 mk5 750 roadster, was an mk4 interstate. It used to run sweet as a nut and when I refreshed the motor, I could not believe it ran so well with the wear on the cam and followers!!!!Must have had next to no lift on the valves. (still showed 115 on the speedo)

Yes brakes are not the best even though mine has a bigger disc and AP Racing caliper fitted using a Norvil adapter. It has a bigger brake master cylinder fitted off something else. An old Honda I think. I also have a 1962 triumph Trophy TR6SS. Now the brakes on that are proper shite. Drum brake front and rear. When I find out what I am doing wrong with the pics I will put one up of the Triumph for you. Don't suppose you can see the picture on the first post can you? It was there when I first put it up

I can see 2 pics of your 1st post and a nice trumpet in your last post. My interstate was the same colour. ( I gave away the tank and seat) RGM's brake mod is lining the m/cl to make it a smaller bore!

Glad the pics are still there, for some reason I can only see the picture of the Triumph at the moment. I will try my other browser to see if that makes a difference.

They "go" really well too. I lent my CB900 to a friend once and he could not keep up with the old Mando! (combat motor)

nice bike man my mate has a commando got it from a lad who had it stashed away over in spain for almost 15 years.. after a relatively low speed spill he didnt go near it again ,, his dad brought it over here again almost 7 years since, and now decided to sell where my mate comes in last year he bought it got it recommissioned registered it and runs well its got a hyde front brake conversion and a big single SU type carb and returns a good 60 MPG albeit at cruisin speed still not bad compares to my wee RD 400 god awful consumption really doesnt like passin petrol stations anyway hope you enjo brit cruisin cheers

On the subject of fuel consumption, on the aircooled forum someone asked what mpg a 250 should achieve and for some strange reason I remembered a trip to the lakes on my Mando in 81. Preston to Bowness on 6 gallon. Worked out the route millage today , and it was 54 miles (filled up at the Anchor service stn Hutton) 9 mpg.
