My 350LC- Finished & Ridden today 10th May 2013

7 months later and a got to ride my finished bike, some 27 years after I last rode one !

Unlike most of you guys and girls, space and lack of ability precluded me from doing 99% of the work, a chap based in Herts called Andys Bikes did it, towards the end with some assistance from a gent called Grant who knows his LCs inside out.

From the top of my heads, aside from lots of new shiny paint being applied, its had the carbs re-built, ultrasonically cleaned, total bodywork respray, various parts powder coated, cases vapour blasted, electrics re-worked, total engine rebuild(new crank,pistons, water pump impellor etc etc), new grips, clips, nuts bolts...you all know the score

Thanks also to Norbo for a great service on supplying all the parts, I must have done Nottingham to Hertfordshire 7 or 8 times over the Winter whilst "at work" !

What can I say, I think its beautiful, so , so chuffed with it.

To my great surprise, it wasnt QUITE the pogo stick I imagined it could have been.

It stopped, steered and handled lovely, didnt pull one way or display any other worrying handling "characteristics"

She started easily, ticked over smoothly and up to my running in RPM limit, carburated cleanly and was stronger low down than I thought it may be.

Next steps, next week the Busa has to leave home to make room in the garage, then I can put my mark on it, there is a lot more I want to do to make it better still...

I didn't have them in the eighties and don't have them now

Give me a chance to take them off mate, id only done 6 miles on it at that point!

In fact, I wish I had them in the 80's as it may have stopped me from getting this ticket !

Your bike looks fantastic. The low down power is good as you say. I think we used to ride them flat out in the day and never appreciated the low speed qualities.

I think there are a few in the area, we should organize a meet up.
There used to be a meet at the white hart in great houghton on the A428 dont know if they still meet up.

Its skint me but as you say, its worth it, eating and family holidays are for losers, right?!

True! See you need to tell the kids that they will have it in 30 years time, and hopefully their kids will in another 50! A week in the Seychelles would be great, but long forgotten two generations down the line, whereas with luck, the rd....!

I must update this thread..I had no end of problems with oil leaks, oil pumps and it did this a few months after the rebuild, chain broke, smashing the cases..wasnt a highlight of 2013!



It may well look great in the pics above but areas of it where a bit scabby, lots of ropey nuts n bolts etc but it has now been fully rebuilt/restored, I will get round to updating it soon..
