Rd all the way...would offer him a lot less for it though. Knock off £1500 whilst waving the cash....He can only say yes or no. Good luck with your choice.

Good luck with that, I've tried offering a bit less for cash on other bikes but they weren't interested. They have some really nice bikes but the prices are mental, however someone somewhere is buying those bikes at silly prices, so I don't think he needs to discount too much.

I had an RD500 for 8 years... It was awesome to ride, gave me very little trouble, and could hold it's own against much newer bikes.

After test riding the Duke all day friday, i've ordered one, mainly because it gave me the same feeling as when i rode my new RD350YPVS when i was 17, its a hooligan machine and i'm still grinning, can't wait for it to come in stock. Never even thought about looking at the RD500 after i'd ridden the HyperStrada. The SP version must be insane but its far too tall for me, i've had to order the special low version of the Strada.

a big V Twin is a good second choice after a 2 stroke. Enjoy the Duke, and at least the Duke services aren't so expensive now. You have have loud pipes on it though :-) You still have the 350 pv for your 2 stroke fix!!

Good Plan. Go for the 70 Horse mediocre chassis, certain to self destruct Oldster instead of the Ducati with it's decades of techo advantages/ prowess. Ride or pose is the heart of the question/decision. Much as we think the 500 was Gods Gift.. it was a Dog in the showrooms. No prize winner on the tracks either...except for 2 or 3 exceptionally well prepped Hero rider campaigned examples. NOT a 4 cyl TZ ..by any stretch of the imagination. Ergo the price . Customers back then bought FZ600's instead of the 500.. Side by each on the dealer floor, they were simply the better bike (spare me ). Fitted with the 'better' bits, Yamaha clearly knew where their future lay. Some serious rose tinted glasses there...The GPZ600 re-wrote the middleweight class and essentially killed off the big strokers sales , the CBR600 sealed the deal. I know the FZ was a good handling bike but it offered about 25% of the RDs appeal and sexiness, it was a proper cheap skate effort , not Yamahas finest hour...who cared if the RD (and RG) didnt do well on track, not me or any of my mates anyway...
