Just checked the bike over after it’s first rally of the year. Ran faultlessly and sounded awesome (as said by others)

Fortunately ( I think...) I now have an offer of employment, starting a week Monday so thought id best take every opportunity to get out on the bikes while I can, ended up around Bedfordshire today.

It's better now it's got the right size tyres on, clutch adjusted and front brake sorted out. Pulls well and sounds good.

They shut down the whole operation Steve....put us in furlough March and told us in June ....from sales director to all our engineers to the ladies in administration, no chemical offering from our mob at all now, very short sighted. Glad to be out of them to be honest but still a shame so many good people now out of work, ive definitely been lucky...spent all me furlough money on another bike (and tyres/petrol) so ive done my bit putting it back in the economy!

The Sunday before last, i dug my old 350 out from the depths of my shed 150 miles away from my house and brought it home, checked the sparks were ok and the electrics and popped some oil in the plugholes and around the big ends but as i had left the carb slides in the shed i had to go back and rummage them out last weekend. Tonight i sloshed some fuel in and gave it a kick.. and several more, six or seven probably.. didn't count.. well, it only started.. big clouds of blue reek wafting down the street, the heady fragrance of Silkolene and a bit of ring ding too..
fairly pleased with that after at least 22 years under a sheet

Took delivery of a set of 31k carbs for my 4lo today, need to check them over and work out the vac attachments so that I can blank them off ready to fire the bike up for the first time since I got it.

Fixed up the 31k clocks with some of the spares I got yesterday and a good internal case got few years ago 😁 Transferred over all the gauges from my old to the new case as know they're all working along with the idiot light looms and bracket Just waiting for the postman to come with Als key surround 😁 to complete the package Might even have enough to build a spare set of clocks for the next project if I can get the hang of plastic welding 😏 Last 2 pics are the spares left over someone cut a hole in the side must have fitted a 4lo or ypvs speedo with the reset button on the side pity because the key surround is still intact

Jay, that clock surround with the extra hole is a nice easy fix i reckon. Rather than plastic weld that I would use Wurth Replast to glue something in place, fill and reprofile with plastic filler (I use Wurth's version as its great) and then paint it. It will never be 100% but it will be very good when done and certainly will save it.

Thanks jon where do you get the wurth repast and the plastic filler from Regards Jay Wurth products can be got on the Wurth UK website I think, Im not in the UK so am not 100% sure, but I do see them also on ebay and Amazon and a few other online sellers. Perhaps a UK forumer (Steve?) can chime in where they got theirs? Weve spoken about the pros and cons of replast on here at some length as some of us love the stuff, and some had issues. I tried a lot of other products over the years and this is the only one i still use. My advice is that with the replast you really need a proper small cartridge gun to push the product out and you will need a bunch of extra mixing nozzles as they are designed as end caps that seal in the product by setting in the nozzle. So, be aware that it's not a cheap thing to buy the setup to do just one single job, but if you think you will do a lot of plastic repairs then its worth it for sure. FWIW I just this week used replast to repair the intercooler water spray nozzles on my Evo. Each of those is just under 50 quid and they were scrap as the plastic had gone brittle and the sprung steel clips ripped the backs off them and pinged off. I made up some repair parts and glued them on the back and filled the holes (through to the water gallery) that were made when the back ripped off as well and they work perfectly and the spring clips hold against the glued on back panel. There are 4 on the car, I did 2 of them. That's circa a hundred quid to offset against the cost of the kit, that sort of repair makes the expense cost-in etc. It also meant I could repair the parts and put it all (bumper with fogs etc had to come off to do the job) back together the same day, quite how long new nozzles would take to come from Japan is anyones guess, but circa 3 months on a boat is a guess. No brainer to me when i have replast here and I do stuff like this all the time with it in the garage and in the house.
